Not a twin but a sibling. My brother is very similar to me despite not being twins. What are the chances of knowing 2 sets of identical twins? There was the pair I went to college with. They tended to dress the same, even as adults. The other set, I shared a house with them. They were identical, but you'd never know it. One was a girly girl, wore dresses most of the time, long hair which she curled every day. She was an administrative assistant.. The other twin? In the year that I knew her, I never once saw her in dress. She had short hair and she worked in a print shop.

I had 2 uncles who were fraternal twins. I don't know if they were pre-term babies. One was close to the weight which you'd see in a normal baby.The other was quite small. This was back in the 1920s in rural Alberta. Babies were still born at home. With the small uncle, they lined a roasting pan with soft flannel blankets; he was placed on the oven door in an ingenious makeshift incubator. He didn't start school until he was about 8 years old, because he didn't have the stamina to make it through a whole school day without needing a nap partway through the day.

Our doctor told us that our boys were rare. Our oldest son has down syndrome and we thought we couldnt have children anymore because we tried for 2 years and nothing happened. When i found out i was pregnant again, we were confused. When our second son was born without down syndrome like his brother, the doctor kept looking back and forth to both our kids. Prescreens for both babies were negative yet our oldest came out with down syndrome, since he looked identical to the newborn we had the doctor asked us to get our youngest tested like we did for our oldest chromosomes. Turned out that the only thing separatating our sons is the 2 year age gap and the extra half chromosome our oldest has. The doctor then told us that technically our sons were twins even though they were 2 years apart. He believes that the one got shoved in the lining after the split. So it took 2 years of "shedding" for him to fall back in place and that sometimes a womans body can decided it cant carry 2 babies at once so my body basically started a queue. Told us we thought we couldnt get pregnant because technically we were already pregnant. We had a good laugh about it. My husband and i giggle when they mirror eachother like double mint twins. Just too cute.

Maybe the half-identical twins are from the same egg that splits and then both parts get fertilised?

My husband and his fraternal twin brother have been involved in a 20 year old Vietnam era study. For 50 years their mom insisted they were identical twins because they came from the same sack. But the tests from the twin study confirmed they were fraternal.

This is pretty interesting! I've know 3 different sets of twins at different times when younger. One set of identical boy, a set if identical girls, and one fraternal set, a boy and girl who were identical aside from being male and female. I held my breath when getting ultrasounds for my 3, as twins run on one side of my family and i was in the path for it. Disnt have any, but it was always a big possibility.

I'm a mirror twin! My twin and I share the same birth defect on opposite sides of the body. We also have mirrored fingerprints, glasses prescription, hair whorls, and even some mirrored moles. Mirroring is fascinating. I'm glad we don't have mirrored organs though haha.

My cousin's mom (her Dad was the sibling of my parent, not her mom) was an identical twin, and has a whole bunch of identical twins in her family. I wonder what would lead to so many identical twins in her family

So, I have an interesting twin story.

While my mom was about two months pregnant with me, she suddenly started bleeding heavily and went to the hospital. The doctor even said that she was having a miscarriage. However, my mom used to end that story by saying that "God saved me."

Then I found out that when someone is having a miscarriage, the fetus they're miscarrying is already dead. So, obviously, I had a faternal twin.

What I don't know is if I absorbed my twin or if my twin was too small to identify as a fetus to the naked eye. Because my mom tends to ignore doctors when they talk and only hears part of what they say.

Tbh they probably told her that she lost a twin but I was fine and all she heard was that she had a miscarriage but I was fine.

My cat had litter mates that were mirror-image twins. Their coat patterns were identically mirrored, it was super fascinating. We legit called them lefty and righty based on their back legs socks.

My brothers are twins...technically. But supposedly, they were conceived a month apart. One brother, the first one born was much smaller and weighed less than the other brother, the second one born who was fully developed. Explain that one!

Interesting. My twins were monochorionic diamniotic twins. Separate sacks with a shared placenta. They developed twin to twin transfusion syndrome, so one twin received the blood supply through extra veins on top of the placenta meant for his twin.

Both my babies survived.
