You have to know there are always ticks around that time of year, why is that news?. And an off trail walk... They are no big deal, if you check yourself constantly. I had a walk this last weekend, it was so bad I had to stop and clean myself every 15 or so minutes.. and what, they are slow and big, so you can spot them instantly (wear long legs/sleeves always and a hat.) and you flick them away and that is it. Not a single bite, probably 30 or more I had to discard... its nature, there are bugs around there.

Must be immigrants or something because the presence of ticks is well known throughout Canada in the woods. Why is this news?

Permethrin spray. Spray your boots and some outdoor clothing. No smell, can be washed, repeat monthly. Did this, and spent three hours in the woods, cutting wood, not one tick on me!

Ticks are easy to deal with..... one wear proper clothing.... also there's plenty of repellents you can typically buy from canadian tire or most out door stores. Iv been hiking all over the mountains and have spent 4-7 weeks at a time solo in the mountains . Ticks are the least of your worries and the easiest to deal with

Seriously? I live in the country, close to a wooded area, and every time I came in after mowing the lawn I’d easily find a couple usually between the skin my sock or worse up my leg, so I started to check my body every time I came in, and always found one! I live in the prairies so I can only imagine how bad it is in the parks and lakes?

why talk to an expert if you cut it out? everyone knows already about the normal tick risk. leaving it out makes it look like your ignoring it on purpose

Brampton full of it. Liberal ban certain pesticides and other medicines and don’t spray. They make all these rat invested ravines and full of mosquitos and ticks and fleas. Go test Brampton and you will find over 20 ticks within a half hour trail walk.
