I take the mountain house pouches on multi day trips, I really like them though I always end up with some food in the pouch that manages to avoid rehydrating. I cannot be bothered doing actual cooking out in the wild.
ОтветитьBut Hop, what if I use cold water because I'm a lazy fuck and I don't want to bring a heater
ОтветитьbUt WhErE aRE tHe GuNNss?!?!
ОтветитьI see you kershaw knockout! How are you liking it?
ОтветитьShlling for Ivan, eh? I think you're on the wrong forum....
Ответить"recreating your own Steve1989 episode" - that guy is awesome.
ОтветитьShout outs to Steve1989MREinfo!
ОтветитьOkay, well there's the proof Hop really is as cheap as he says he is. That's some really low ball off brand Chinese cookware and stove he's got there. I would know that because I have the same stuff and I'm tighter than the skin on a peach! This young lad has some real potential! 👍
ОтветитьChili Mac is the bomb. My former marine staff sergeant dad used to make it for us. Not tried the freeze dried, but MRE version is good.
Ответитьgot some old mountain house packages that i thought were way out of date, but thanks to your video i realized the date's the mfg date and you say they're good up to 30 years after so that's awesome.
ОтветитьAre the MCWs commonly/ now permanently available on the civilian market ? Or do I need to stock up on these now.
ОтветитьHey I have that same cheap Amazon chinesium gas stove kit, and it works amazing!
ОтветитьHmmm oxide loved this
Ответить> /k/ brownies
bruh
I took the commercial Mountain House meals on the Appalachian Trail. Lawdy were they awesome. I don't know if I would appreciate them as a meal at home, but let me tell you, they were magical when everyone else was eating cold oatmeal and powdered eggs.
ОтветитьThe biscuits and gravy SLAP
ОтветитьDid you just say "innawoods" out loud unironically?
ОтветитьDid you serve or have military training? Just curious.
ОтветитьFucking love it here
ОтветитьHow long was the shipping?
ОтветитьMREs are perfect for large groups with a logistics line available. You can truck them in, truck out the trash and not have to worry about having more than just drinking water on hand. AKA the Military. They work well for a few days in a non permissive environment where you're on the go and really don't have time to fuck around with a stove and finding water all the time. Any longer than that and freeze dried is my go-to choice.
ОтветитьYou have any spooky stories backpacking in the woods?
Ответить> /k/ brownie
OH NO, HOP!
Damn, now I wanna try those fancy exclusive MRE entrees. Hard to come by tho=-/

Pro tip: if you live in Cascadia and are legitimately in the mountainous backcountry, water filtration is kind of a waste of time and energy. As long as the source is fast moving and not stagnant, the chances of a parasite are pretty minimal. Especially at altitude where the water is snow/glacier melt off. Unless there is a bear shitting directly into the river or a mountain goat drowned and is rotting upstream there’s not a whole lot of risk. In the lower altitude streams the fish, beavers, or otters are a factor though.
ОтветитьYou are an attractive man
Ответить"Fucker." heh
That's my daily driver. For some reason I started saying it in an Irish accent a few years back and it stuck.
love the narration.
ОтветитьThis nerd Heats his rations ok your highness! Do you also require a real shelter?
ОтветитьThese remind me of rations here, freeze dried and dehydrated stuff for easy carrying, although id take danish rations over everything, british one had weird obsession with beans and MREs leave lots of trash after using
ОтветитьDo you think you could do a video on your hiking/backpacking kit?
ОтветитьYou and Oxide did this together didn't you?
ОтветитьI love how says "fucker"
Ответитьtoday i learned my MREs are actually shit how nice
Ответитьwhy does this guy sound like a pre pubescent Paul Harrell, i swear he talks like him too
ОтветитьLove it hahaha
Ответитьthe freshness is questionable when they give it to us in the field.
ОтветитьTwo comments: I agree wholeheartedly about the turkey tetrazzini. It's wonderful.
I also have a can of turkey tetrazzini I got from my brother, who got it several No 10 cans from the free bin at the local church thrift store. They couldn't sell food products under their license, but it made for a hella good score to get several cans of 20+ year to go Mtn Home stuff for nada.
MOUNTAIN HOUSE SHOULD CHANGE THEIR NAME TO MA-OUT-HOUSE! GUARANTEED TO CAUSE DIARRHEA!
Ответитьkommandostore discount code?
ОтветитьI'm wondering why the innawoods and other woods based tactical civvie operator communities never seem to mention HDR's.
They're a bit more readily available than MRE's.
For anyone backpacking the Chicken Pesto Pasta by Peak Refuel is amazing, I think its better then chili mac
ОтветитьPortland flag?
Ответитьwe dont talk about the /k/ meet brownie
ОтветитьThe P95 is my favorite out of all the P series Rugers that I have owned. Are there any P series Rugers that you think are better than the P95?
ОтветитьThese things were the shit when we were training in Bridgeport. Now that I’m a free man I still use them when I go backpacking, whenever I can get them.
ОтветитьI took 6 of pad Thai meals out with me last year on a few day in the woods trip. They are my personal go to.
ОтветитьExcellent Video!
ОтветитьOne factor to consider, is the MH meals will certainly slow down your bowel production and make your shits rather solid. On the plus side, easier wiping. On the downside, constipation while hiking is a special kind of miserable.
