As a surf camera, which GoPro was originally pioneered for....less is more. The 10 has bloated itself with screens and features that take away from its original utilitarian compact appeal. I'll keep buying the 8 until they can slim it down again and focus on battery life & durability instead of more screens.

Thanks for the video buddy. My opinion is that these 2 are close in the picture quality ... Hero 10 is a better choice since its a newer version but if you own the Hero 8 ... I doubt if it's worth upgrading

The Hero 8 cost less so I went with that one. I saved almost 150 bucks by just getting the 8 instead of the 10.

The DJI action 2 which is currently on promotional prices, would be a great comparison to the hero 10 especially the more affordable power combo.
As nice as it is to have that front facing screen on the dual lens combo and additional mics, many have said that it's not essential as the field of view is pretty wide, and plugging in an external microphone is really easy.

Can you shoot time lapse with audio on the hero 8?

Much Prefer the 8...my clips don't come out like yours...and I don't know why. The 8 is still better than even the 11. Lots of comparisons out now. No major improvement at all.

It looks like GoPro Hero 8 packaging changed a bit. When I ordered mine, it was packaged a lot like the 10, with the case you mentioned the 8 doesn't come with.

Still, now I'm in the process of deciding whether or not to purchase the 10. The 8 is great, but the pictures aren't sharp enough when I'm taking pictures of engravings.

The only reason i run the 10 is because of the horizon leveling. Otherwise for me time and time again the 8 is a better looking camera, i can easily pick them out of any footage I do, and I have over 1000 hours on each camera.

My hero 8 battery is a dud. It doesn't go past 2 hours.

I find hero 8 doing well in the stability department compared to hero 10 in the forest scenery.

Personally speaking from your video based on your perspective you said "blue" sky but in your hero 10 its not look like it, but in your hero 8 it's damn blue amazing. Lol

I bought the hero 8 today on gopro site 249€, with 1 year subscription included…
The quality seems to be the same of the hero 10…
Sincerely I don’t like the extra size of recent gopros…

So as a beginner it’s okay to go for a 8 ??

My hero 8 came with literally nothing but a mount, cord, and a battery. Really skimpy on GoPros part..... Then again, what do you expect from something made in China

Which gopro can you recommend me better the 8 or the 10 version? I have never used before and this would be my first buying. I would use only on holiday / trips but not constantly.
I would like to use only in 4 K.. I read so many positive and negative comments so I am uncertain about decision.

Question for a new beginner is this a good model to start out with. I will be using it for recording for trucking and driving thru towns and mountains

I bought the 8 in April of 2023 and it just crapped out 4 months out of warranty. I liked the quality of the video, but had to turn off all the voice and wifi etc features due to inconceivable battery drain. The unit ran so hot the pull tabs for the batteries all came off and I had to rig the batteries with packing tape. Support said if I buy a subscription for $25 they will sell me a 10 for $99 or 15% off a 12. Which is why I just watched your video, so see what the 10 is all about. I just ordered the Osmo Action 4. I am done with GoPro.
