I find letting horse run and get turned out and a lot of ground work, like salad bar walks, helps them.
Over controlling our beautiful friends is a human problem.
So would a horse such as this always be like that? Meaning, the rider would will always need to be hyper aware of the horse, not just aware. If yes, that doesn’t sound too fun.
ОтветитьAnd you don't even wear a helmet 🙄
Totally impressed with your ability to stay on the horse though 😍
Amazing maturity and self awareness to be able to to offer us this video! Thank you for the truth, glad you handled it well and are safe !
ОтветитьI know you know better on how to train him- but I’m just adding my 2 cents. Try riding him English before western. Use closer contact and try to desensitize him. If he cant get his head down, he cant get his butt up. I realize Im oversimplifying. Looked like a fun ride to me. Like your videos alot. Thanks.

ОтветитьI love your videos. When you touch the Horse and he low his head, is it a natural reaction? Or do you have to teach him to do this movement? Thank you❤
ОтветитьGood video! I call those moments learning opportunities, not mistakes! Ha! Ha! Every person who works with horses have those moments. God knows I've had more than my fair share! I don't know how much experience the owner has, but that might not be the best horse for her! Keep up the good work, you're not only helping horses, you're also helping people!
ОтветитьI have this horse! I was sold a mustang labeled as a paso cross. Looked it. He was rescued from the kill pen by the seller. (I'm shocked a person selling a horse lied about having ridden him.)
I bought him without riding him because I liked the look in his eye and his feet needed a year of care.
He was terrified of the owner who was terrified of him and that message bounced between them escalating, with every bounce, until I asked for the lead rope.
Horse stood stock still for the owner when every cell was screaming run run run. I took him about 200 ft down the road to watch a hiway roar by. He stayed exactly where I want a horse to be, behind my right shoulder outboard of my torso. I gave him room to go without running over me if he had to go. He didn't crowd or hang back, great manners so far. When I stopped, he stopped, when I started he started. When we got to the end of our quiet walk I turned to connect to him to see if he would soften and see me instead of the fast, noisy stuff. He looked me in the eye and dropped his very high head, stretched his neck a little toward my hip, I stroked him and scuffed his withers, and brought him home. I'm that kind of sucker. 😏
I have never seen a horse so desperate to hook up in my life. I'm 74, all my horses were in need when we met.
My farrier spotted him as an unbranded BLM mustang and the minute he said it, that horse snapped into that barb descended frame. 😮
I could have ridden the buck in your video. My molly mule had the galloping downhill bucking fits for 2 yrs and never lost me. Chased a freight train like the western movies and I rode that mile and a half in my English saddle with my knee 9 inches off the boxcars, not bragging, I was off her in goofy ways but not from bucking. She protest bucked me 40 min at a clinic! 😂
I spent two hours a day with, around, showing, teaching, not punishing, redirecting his attention, playing with his energy and brain, smart, smart horse and he was in my pocket for 6 months before I mounted him. He exploded like he was coming out of the chute! No lie, like a poster of an old rodeo. I lasted 3 1/2 seconds.
I knew he had PTSD, now I know why. He was even taught to buck as he showed me under a trail saddle on a lead rope bucking, getting all the air, in place, looking for his atta boy. I told him to buck on over here son and I'll pull that saddle off. Swear he did.
Old people are so long winded and boring. I've been teaching him to bow and now I know I can use that set up working him into a whoa before I try him again.
I love this horse's athletic talent! Cleared my 4 strand barbed wire like he was at the Olympics and coon jumps like any good mule. I love me some jumping! Got a beautiful gait, too.
I'll keep working with him until he kills me. Kidding.
Your approach is how I rehabbed a kill pen Standardbred mare who was crippled, they thought, and as sneaky dangerous as they come off the tracks. Reframe, redirect, let them use all that energy. I was 16. In 4 yrs she was sweeping harness shows and open hunter shows all over New England for the man who bought her when I went away to school.
I see trainers who are afraid of the energy of horses so they keep putting them in smaller and smaller containers and wonder why they get worse. Movement is valium to them. I myself need to kick out the jams now and then. Horses are who's left. I've outlived all my other rushes. Oops. Thank you. I'll keep watching ...🏇
I'm an old lady with lots of training experience.. In the seventies i worked under Glenn Randal(trigger) and Denzel Cameron ( the black stallion and the man from snowy river) I trained the donkeys for Grizzly Adams tv and movies 72years old.. i said all that to say..Ive been away from horses for 25 years due to some tragedies in my life. i've recently started watching ur videos and a couple other ppl.. I was always taught you never stop learning. its clear to me that horse training has continued to progress over the years. tho i can no longer ride. i also am an experienced teamster.. and i can do that til im 110yrs old. thank you. I'm enjoying ur vids!
ОтветитьA humility check!
ОтветитьIs it possible he is experiencing pain?
ОтветитьOnce I found out you spent years with Pat Parelli, I became a new subscriber.
ОтветитьThat horse would of been in a freezer on his way to Europe the next day LOL
ОтветитьConscious,Ryan, Conscious.
ОтветитьGreat video Ryan. Thank you 🤗
ОтветитьIt helps people to see when things aren't perfect. Too many people don't show the mistakes so nobody gets to see the process
ОтветитьHey man you really got to let go of riding horses. They’ll kill you one day
ОтветитьI think Ryan is being to rough on himself, this horse just needs more time in my opinion. One session wasn't going to be enough regardless.
ОтветитьPeople don't talk to horses much.
ОтветитьHe didn't like that saddle. It looks pretty heavy and he looked uncomfortable.
ОтветитьVery first minutes…Ryan walked around, then ahead of and away from this horse. That position equals a cracked skull when he strikes the back of the head. MOST horses will not strike…but that is a one and done mistake. Never take your eyes of the horse…please
ОтветитьNot sure if you said he had his back checked, but the last time l saw a horse react like that was when they had kissing spines.
ОтветитьROTFLMAO!!!
You just have to make a video or two of movers just like this; some of the Uh Ohs and oh shits, you know some comedy movies!!! We not only learn from your mistakes, but it also makes us wanting to watch more of your videos! I think by adding some comedy, I honestly think you'll get a lot more people WANTING to come back and watch more!
Thank you SO much for all your wonderful videos, and thank you even more for today's video, it made me laugh and wanting MORE!!!
Thankyou for sharing this!
GO ON GOOGLE TRANSLATE and sorry for the snap to your pride Love and Peace
Hi, I'm Nathalie from France and I need to speak even if I'm not fluente English speaking or writer, so excuse me. Man, you are to much demanding, pushing and never watch or learn the body language of your horse. Shame and sorry for my English
ОтветитьA high strung, green broke horse was jumpy, anxious & acted out, despite prep. It happens. Horse was in good hands & needed saddle time to get through his fears. I would love to have seen the strategies for leveling him up, but clearly you moved him forward. Hard job! Thanks for including. He kind of reminded me of a race horse maybe more than a pleasure riding horse. So much respect for your style.
ОтветитьFrom one trainer to another, thanks for sharing your video!
ОтветитьRushing it
ОтветитьGreat honesty Ryan and we'll done. Thanks for sharing
ОтветитьThank you so much for sharing this experience! I'm no where near as experienced as you, and my horses catch my by Surprise sometimes. It's good to know I'm not failing, I'm learning. You are amazing!
ОтветитьI don't know how my Dad trained his horse but the horse would buck if anyone but him tried to ride her but Dad could put a 3 year old on her and you wouldn't believe how careful the horse was . Both my Dad and his horse were amazing.
ОтветитьMakes me wonder if the horse had kissing spine the way he instantly went to bucking with weight in the saddle, was he ever checked for that?
Ответить😂 pretty sure the horse wasn’t even broke 😂
ОтветитьWhat happened? How did you finally get to dismount? Part 2❤❤
ОтветитьThat is a SERIOUSLY gorgeous horse.
ОтветитьI have just seen seconds of this video, because I think you look too big and heavy for the horse.
ОтветитьRyan, what camera is your videographer using?
ОтветитьWoah! That was a surprise! Good job handling the situation Ryan!
ОтветитьIs this an OT Thoroughbred?
Ответитьthere is NO way you can tell if a saddle is hurting a horse
Ответитьwestern saddles are BRUTAL on horses backs...
we knew a horse meat farmer who got all the damaged backs
so many ruined horses very young...should be banned those terrible wooden trees.
you should switch to a Spanish saddle or European...those saddles destroy horses
Great video and learning situation. How long did it take before you felt you could dismount safely?
ОтветитьExcellent editing!!! And thank you Ryan for having the integrity and courage to show us this valuable lesson!
ОтветитьThanks for your honesty and for explaining everything that happened!
ОтветитьThere are good horses and bad horses ,this is a bad one ,he is going to take a lot of work and may never be worth his Shoe's.
ОтветитьI love your videos. Im 66now
