Pleased you are feeling better ❤
ОтветитьHi Jane.
Thank you for the video.
It’s so true we buy crap to be like other people.
I stopped using temu/Shein it’s all rubbish.
I have a list from one of your videos about being frugal etc. use what you have etc x x x
I don’t like influencers really as in the ones who want you to buy buy buy. !
I am quite happy using my Nivea cream and applying my little eyeliner and a bit of mascara x
I used to follow a lovely young mum who was renovating her council house on Instagram. Then one day she posted a reel advertising a baby’s bottle warmer - she said herself she was still breastfeeding her 2 year old - so absolutely no need for a bottle warmer - I stopped following her after that - she was breastfeeding - why didn’t she shout that from the rooftops?? By doing that she would be influencing so many young mums to to that in a society where bottle feeding is the norm. It was a wasted opportunity and made me realise that she was only in it for the money. 😊
ОтветитьSince January I started out no spend January and then no spend February and that has continued with one or two lapses, charity shop purchases, hopefully carrying on to the end of the year 👍
ОтветитьSorry I am ranty on here but I totally agree with you Jane x
ОтветитьThank you for this video it’s so refreshing to hear someone say what I and no doubt many others think, the world has gone made and over consumerism is out of control 👍🏻
ОтветитьAt my age ... My odd habits and hobbies have been in and out of 'trend' for years ( like using bathwater to flush the loo ) .... even my 1980's clothes from the loft are trendy again.... ( including my flowery dungarees! ) .. I have worn the same makeup products for 40 years only changing the foundation as my skin colour is paler these days...
ОтветитьGreat that you are chucking off the cold 😊and feeling better.
I do not purchase online, got to look and try before I buy 👍
Enlightening video.
Thanks Jane 🇦🇺
I follow 3 people on here now - you, the organised mum, and money mum that’s it xx
ОтветитьStorms have been going on since the beginning of time… Talk about jumping on the newest trend lol. You just lost a subscriber.
ОтветитьI rarely buy anything, bought a few things recently because it was my birthday, but that's it until Christmas. It's about quality over quantity now, no more cheap clothes, and I've been purging anything plastic from my kitchen. Less is more.
ОтветитьI think it is sad that so many young women value themselves by what they look like and what they wear.
ОтветитьI'm totally with you regarding influencers, Jane, I have no patience to watch them. A special gadget to warm a face towel???? I'm over the moon to put on warm knickers from the radiator in the Winter! 😂
I do hope that young people change their mindset regarding over consumption. It's their world going to rack and ruin after all. Personally, I enjoy budgetting now and really appreciate what we have. My daughter's family love big brands but never pay full price. It's a start I suppose.... 🙄
Thanks for another thought provoking video Jane.
Angie ❤
Will you be doing a Christmas frugal vlog again - I really need some
Ideas for frugal dinner and nye teas x
Ive stopped buying anything for three months, only essentials
ОтветитьI totally agree with you. Upon your suggestion, I watched Hannah’s video on influencers. Spot on! I especially wish that young girls would watch this and possibly wake up to the overconsumption that is happening. My self care is a walk every night with my dogs and reading (a library) book on my patio with a talk glass of water or a mug of tea. I really enjoy your videos. Thank you.
ОтветитьIm tinfoil hat. I believe these stromes are dodgy. Also us humans cant do much. Government or global elite could stop anyting bad in a heartbeat, be it plastic or anything else. Just make production illegal
ОтветитьOk, full disclosure: my college-age son is an influencer for a bubbly water drink, a cookie delivery service, and a soap manufacturer. It’s covering some of his needs (shirts, hats, food, beverage, soap, etc) and costs. I myself don’t buy any of the products he promotes. They’re teenager items
ОтветитьUnfortunately the business of influencers is huge money making machine. Millions of people follow influencers and end up in a financial mess
ОтветитьHanna Alonso’s influencers series is the bomb! I love it 😂 but its a guilty pleasure
Ответитьbest one I've had was three seperate offers of pyramids to cure my breast cancer
ОтветитьThe prevalance of using the word "haul" annoys me. It's not a haul if someone has just done their weekly shopping like usual. Makes me roll my eyes hard.
ОтветитьI work in a shop selling food and I have had customers coming in for foods they have seen featured on TikTok - kiwi berries, a chunky chocolate bar and frozen chicken broth! I just want to roll my eyes and feel depressed that people are so easily influenced. Quite often the item has sold out as there has been such a rush on them.
ОтветитьThis is my philosophy to a tee. In my childhood and my young married years it was necessary. In middle age it was a good idea to buy used. As a senior citizen I have more cash, but less inclination to buy much of anything. I have enough clothing and household items to last the rest of my life. I only replace things if the item wears out. Last week we got new carpeting because the old carpet was from 1987 and showing its age. I love your attitude and agree with it wholeheartedly. Thank you for creating these videos.
ОтветитьWell said & I agree with all of this Jane. Quality new is needed sometimes... like good walking boots & waterproof jackets, trousers etc. I've
been caught by buying jackets that say 'waterproof' & got soaked in light rainfall 😅. Loved your cat 'photo bombing' in the background 🎉
Global warming/climate change is weather manipulation.
ОтветитьI think some are from influencers who do massive thrift hauls, and the news coming out about the realities of how and where donated clothes end up--especially news coming out from Ghana and Chile where donated clothes end up in landfills and incinerated causing huge issues to local economies as well as the environment. It's scary. So I'm seeing a lot of those influencers hopping on the "under consumption-core" band wagon. It'll be interesting to see if this trend lasts.
ОтветитьYou talk about global warming, but you should look into cloud seeding, too. Also, most cheap stuff is made in China. China contributes more pollution than the whole of Europe and America combined.
ОтветитьGreat video. I know exactly the you tuber you’re talking about , i unsubscribed over a year ago as i found the hauls vulgar . Any over consumption is vulgar in my personal opinion
Ответить❤❤❤
ОтветитьYour blouse is pretty and really suits you!
My parents bought a German-made food processor at a garage sale in 1987. I was 17. I won’t go into the math, but I’m still using it! It is stained and has a few tiny chips but every part of it still works! Of course I’ve looked at upgrading but can’t find a compelling reason. I’ve just disposed of a brand new toaster-oven after just 13 months. It won’t shut off and overheats. I can’t get it repaired, warranty is over, seller said “buy another.” I found an ugly used one at a community charity store. It’s old and it works just fine.
Im older now and I sometimes laugh when younger folks think they’ve invented concepts such as “underconsumption.”
Agree 100%, people buy sooo much stuff… 😣 I lean towards minimalism myself & refuse to watch “Haul” videos ‘cause they’re just loads of unneeded stuff that people don’t need and don’t use fully. Most of it lands in the landfill… one caveat however, I do watch ‘thrift hauls’ (like yours) as generally those are for items they need to avoid new, or they’re decorating their home etc….
ОтветитьI glad I'm not the only one with cats in the background :)
ОтветитьHow much junk do people really need. Buy a few good items and call it a day
ОтветитьGreat video, I really enjoy your chats like this one. I completely agree that consumerism is hugely out of control. Many people seem to be addicted to shopping. With my friends and family I tell them what I'm up to, such as having a low spend year but I don't preach. Glad you're feeling better xx
ОтветитьI take great satisfaction in looking around my home and seeing almost everything purchased second hand. It has allowed me to retire at 53.
ОтветитьI couldn't agree more,if we all recycle and ensure we repair and mend, then when we do purchase a new quality product. Then suppliers and manufacturers might get the message to supply quality products that last in order to stay in business, make closer to home and in the process save our planet.Keep up the good work
Ian
I am absolutely of the same thinking as you, I despair at the number of trainers my son keeps buying! Most are second hand but he feels justified having so many just because they weren’t bought from new 🙄. Love your videos, please keep them coming. ❤
ОтветитьI wish having conversations with others was easier with this topic. I tried to comment respectively on a well known You Tube channel about Temu and the issues with it. I can only assume it was taken personally as any other comments I left on other posts were snubbed 😢 It hurt because I really respect this person, have followed for years and felt as though we knew each other ( sounds a bit lonely lol). So now I'm hesitant to do so which is such a shame as I think these conversational topics are important. So kudos to you and I agree with your sentiments. Just edited to add that I am aware that people may need to purchase at these unreal low prices. I'm talking about wants not needs.
