The lives of women throughout the history of the world, with rare exceptions, have always been hell. The glamour of dramas is necessary, after all, no one watches them to suffer, they are for entertainment.
China is now the world's largest economy and its progress is impressive, thanks to the Revolution. Monarchical systems have never favored the people, much less women.
Well, I know some C-dramas where it is shown that the lower concubines sleep in dormitories.
ОтветитьMeanwhile indian queens used to have their own palaces
ОтветитьI need the name of the 1st drama?
ОтветитьI feel bad for all of these women, we're lucky enough not to be born during those era😥
ОтветитьImagine all the Lessing out
ОтветитьIt’s like a women’s prison.
And not a good one!
How did they not kill each other under such stress?!
ОтветитьEl amor del emperador implicaba eso, mejor condición para ellas y para su clan.
ОтветитьThe place still looks good and elegant
ОтветитьOlder era-focused C & K-dramas show this, none of this modern adaptation of a glamorous narrative
ОтветитьThey were sex SLAVES. NONE of them were there because being a concubine was a ahappy life it was simply an existence they were FORCED by horny men that didnt see women as humans to endure
ОтветитьI like you, very educational video, thank you 👋😀😊🦘🐨💞💞💞..
ОтветитьI look forward to each and every one of your videos.
ОтветитьThis barbaric custom was revived by the first emperor of Ming Dynasty but abolished by the 4th one because his own mother was almost included in the list. The thought that he could have been an orphan caused him to abolish the custom. He was not the original crowned prince. His mother should have been the first Empress but was only promoted after the demise of the first Empress. It was quite a complex and intriguing bit of history
ОтветитьThey never really were fighting for the emperors love, but for his favor
ОтветитьInteresting!
Ответить80 m2 per person is not at all bad. That would be a generous sized apartment in most of Europe.
ОтветитьI will never understand how such a conservative society had double moral. They were calling for moral and total chastity and then they offered own young daughters as concubines, not wifes, only for the king's hot nights,it's sick and disgusting
ОтветитьI’ve always felt Empresses in the Palace was the best representation for how the rooms looked
ОтветитьBut all the concubines were as beautiful as the actresses in C dramas, weren’t they?
ОтветитьI’m absolutely certain that Chinese professors of history spend a good portion of their time screaming “No!“ at C dramas.
ОтветитьLife has never been as good as it is now… we have air conditioning, planes, cars, refrigerators, instant communication systems, instant entertainment, medicine isn’t based on spirits, cheap warm clothes, clean water, and good food… now imagine if all of that was taken away… think about how terrible and different your life would be.
ОтветитьI just don’t understand the point of having HUNDREDS of concubines, what’s the point of spending that much money when most of them are just getting the bare min. The idea was to ensure the emperor could get an heir, but most of these girls would never even see the emperor let alone have his baby. Like 50 should be the max, and even that would still be a breeding ground for drama.
Ответитьpronouncing “v” as a “w”. You say “awoid, should be “avoid”. You say “diwided “, should be “divided”. V is not so difficult, go online and find how to say “v”
ОтветитьLove? No way. Love is a concept born only in Shakespeare literature. In those days their goal is only to survive.
ОтветитьOn movies, everything looks perfect
ОтветитьConsidering even food was limited for concubines and only the empress got to allowed to eat her fill, I'd have killed just for that.
ОтветитьI absolutely love how rich the history of SO many cultures of this world are! Thank you for your insight, it brings the past of China alive.
ОтветитьStill far more glamorous than normal people.
ОтветитьWhy am i recommended this ,i didn't take history more so chinese
ОтветитьThey were treated like dolls, all that money and you couldn't house them
ОтветитьThe saddest and most depressing place for a woman was the harem. A prison where you died alone and sad.
ОтветитьSo... basically China hasn't changed at all.
ОтветитьWhat about the cold palace? If that's the situation of cocubines, is living in cold palace worse?
Ответить80 m² is relatively big - though if the maids lived in the same apartment, it's not a palace for certain. My family of four lives in 86 m² and it's still okay. Some student flats are just 18 m², though they share a kitchen with other people in the same floor.
ОтветитьBitch an apartment with 80 square meters are enough for a family with 2 kids in eastern Eu
ОтветитьLets not forget most concubines were stolen from their families and concubines started at age 15
ОтветитьThey're fight for better live conditions. Forbidden city wasn't better than jail.
ОтветитьWhat was the emperor seriously going to do with 130 women? It’s like he’s just keeping them around just in case he gets bored. How cruel.
ОтветитьSo many concubines
For whattt😂
I never thought they would be fighting for love. It was always about status, money and politics.
There was also almost no chance to develop love. The emperor was busy and had to divide his little free time between multiple concubines.
I'd rather marry a merchant during the period.
ОтветитьSome even died without seeing the emperor, let alone the emperor's love..😢😢
ОтветитьIn your eyes but that time that is the peak.
ОтветитьIt must have been quite complicated and without any privacy 😢
ОтветитьI've had more privacy at domestic abuse shelters.
Ответитьi had never thought of the comparison between the concubines and high school/college girls since how young they usually were when the emperor took them, it makes so much sense
ОтветитьCan you do a video about the safety in China like cdrama thugs lol 😂
Ответить
