Hum, I wonder how Warren Buffett gets away with it?
Per AI:
No, Warren Buffett's children likely do not pay taxes on the salaries they receive from the family foundations because these foundations are considered non-profit organizations, meaning salaries paid to employees, including family members, are typically tax-exempt.
So when you look at a YMCA 990 (the regional ones), they show they easily meet the public support test but I presume this is based on program/ membership fees not classic donations. Can one meet the public charity support test on the basis of program fees rather than traditional donations?

Ответить509 (a)(2) Public charities can also have DISQUALIFIED persons, in fact, certain GOVERNMENT units can become a DISQUALIFIED person under the 509(a)(2) support test. You should go deeper into that? Private Operating Foundations do not have to comply with the mandatory distribution rules of a private foundation. And one last note, deductions only qualify for the 60% deduction to public charities if the donation is cash, other transactions (donations) such as real estate may be granted at a cost basis for the first year and you can take the remainder of the donation over a 5 year period.
