JBL Xtreme 4 vs JBL Xtreme 3 & JBL Charge 5

I have a warm feeling inside while watching this review. Very well made, joyfull!

Would like your opinion . I have one Extreme 3 and three flip sixes. I actually ordered another extreme three through Amazon renewed for $200. That's quite a lot less than the Extreme four.

Do you think that the tech of the Extreme 4 justifies going with that instead of what I currently have?

The whole reason I bought all of these is to use them in party mode.

So, not a word about the massive cuts to the ports between Xtreme 3 and 4 (no more AUX and USB-A)? Is this advertisement or a review?

I have the JBL Go 1 and Go 3 and I upgraded to charge 5 and it’s soo good sound and bass but now i think maybe it’s time to get the new big boy Xtrame 4 for some more hours play time and some better sound and bass

It's expensive, for sure. I still have the extreme 2 that I bought a long time ago for only $150. i think it was a black Friday sale or Prime Day sale.

If you plan indoor use, 3.5mm jack very important. Many, like me, have monitors, to use with say PS5. To get audio out you are limited to wired essentially. So can hook up my Extreme 3, to monitor with audio lead. Extreme 4 is limited in connectivity. Also, I use with my lifestyle projector, on BT. Out and about use watch often as my tracks are there. Price, UK, around £180, which is a good deal compared to almost double priced 4. Good review, and thanks

i have this! i like it a lot bc its something in between the charge 5 and the partybox encore wich i both have. the bass of the extreme is less than the partbox but that was to be expected. i love the strap and battery. i love it!!!!!!

Can you connect extreme 4 to a charge 5?

I just want a louder jbl speaker then the charge 5 sure i love my charge 5. It is loud. I paired 2 of them for our 4th of july bash 1 in 1 corner and another in another corner it was great , use 1 at full volume when fixing cars in my driveway and its pretty loud. Ive strapped it to a mortorcyle and you could hear it a bit over the exhaust of the motorcycle but is the extreme 3 or 4 much louder then the charge 5. I assume they put out more watts and have more speakers but is it just louder. Goes louder. Volume louder. Music louder??????

I recently got the Xtreme 4, expecting to be blown away by the sound. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Don’t get me wrong, it sounds great, but I definitely expected more from it.

I’ve owned a Charge 5 for about two years now, and for what you get for your money, it’s the best portable speaker I own.

Connecting the Xtreme 4 with the Charge 5, is really underwhelming. The Charge 5 sounds louder and has deeper bass when paired, for some reason and the Xtreme 4 barely seems to contribute ( no matter which one is the host speaker). To make matters worse, the connection is weak, with static noise and volume fluctuations. I’d honestly prefer having two Charge 5s paired together in stereo instead.

As a musician I really appreciate a well rounded and full sound from a speaker. My first JBL was the Extreme2 and it served me very well. It recently stopped working, most likely the battery. We have a new one on the way and fingers crossed that solves the problem.
In the meantime my amazing wife got me the Extreme4 as a gift to replace our beloved 2. I’ve gotta say, I’m left a bit underwhelmed by the bass response. From all the reviews I expected it to be much “punchier”. However sub bass hits in hip hop don’t really register and the focused attack of a bass drum in rock music lacks definition.
Now, having said all that, if you stand a foot away from the side of the Extreme4 you will absolutely get all those feels from the subs, but listening from the front, it goes by the wayside.
With the new battery arriving any minute for our Extreme2 we’ll see soon enough if it’s me or if the 4 really fails to compare to my memory of what the 2 offered.
