Ukraine Strikes Russian Military Facility as Moscow Changes Its Nuclear Policy

Ukraine struck Russia using US ATACMS missiles. Ukraine said it struck an arms depot about 110 km inside the Russian territory. Russia said it shot down five of six missiles fired at a military facility in the Bryansk region, however, the debris of the missiles caused fire. The fire was swiftly put out and no casualties were reported, said Moscow. Ukrainian strikes followed the Biden administration’s recent permission to use US weapons to conduct strikes inside Russia. The permission came ahead of 1000 days of the Ukraine-Russia war. Moscow had earlier warned the West against allowing Kyiv to strike inside Russian territory. Russian President Vladimir Putin lowered the threshold for a nuclear response. The new doctrine allows a nuclear response to a conventional attack. Russia has the world's biggest nuclear arsenal, and the change in its nuclear policy was criticised globally.
