Hey, hey. Thanks for watching and all the comments! Seems like not everyone is onboard with these changes so far. Have any more questions on these laptops I can answer? Reply here and I'll get to them.
While I'm here, I have a couple of small edits and things I didn't mention! First, you can't actually go up to 8TB of storage anymore, apparently that configuration is off the table. Secondly, I just wanted to emphasize that 120Hz variable refresh rate panels are available in the base configurations of these laptops, including the XPS 13, which is pretty awesome. Last thing on configurations - the XPS 16 starts at $1800, but that's without discrete graphics, which will range up to the RTX 4070. No RTX 4080 option in the lineup like the XPS 17 used to have.
I used Macbook PRO M1 for three years and last year my company gave me an XPS13 carbon-fiber model. I really love this computer and was thinking abount buying other, but the lack of 3.5mm and no ESC key is a no-no. And it's sad, as this is an amazing model, but they took all the bad ideas from the Plus line. I'll go have to go for the Macbook Pro :(
Ответитьcapacitive buttons = 100% deal breaker
ОтветитьI need my physical keys.
ОтветитьI like the changes for the most part. Just have to factor in all the pros and cons. Keep in mind I work with Azure cloud, C#, PowerShell, and Python (for small scripts).
Pros for 14 & 16-inch models: Better battery life, better heat management, better quality web camera for Teams meetings & interviews, and better display fresh rate.
Cons for 14 & 16-inch models: Worse single core performance, RAM is no longer adjustable, electronic Function keys, and no built-in SD card reader (photographers need this).
what noone has failed to mention is that there are no vents underneath which means you can sit this on your lap without overheating
Ответитьthis is ridiculous apple tried it and couldn't make it work. why dell
ОтветитьHonestly , I was hoping Dell would remove the carbon fiber ,and they did , now they’re given me a reason to wait another year or two.
Those capacitive function keys are just unnecessary.
It’s almost as though Dell is trying to copy The Macs design philosophy without making it obvious. I’m definitely sitting this one out.
Ugh! What did dell do! I liked the 15" design. This new one is TERRIBLE! This is the wrong decision!! Time to look elsewhere for a Windows laptop.
ОтветитьMy previous XPS frequently experienced touchpad issues. Now, they've opted for a seemingly unreliable approach by eliminating physical function keys. Considering Dell's track record in quality control, I can only hope for the best. However, I have concerns that within two years, these non-physical keys might fail, and by that time, the warranty would likely have lapsed, effectively rendering the computer useless.
ОтветитьWell is there any chance to get an XPS 16 with a Mini LED as a Option??? Because OLED JUST SUCKS! Why only OLED for higher Resolutions?
ОтветитьDell just lost a Customer, because I wont be upgrading from my Dell XPS 15 9510
ОтветитьDell Just Lost me, after my Dell XPS 15 I will go to Apple
ОтветитьOuch, that was NOT was I was hoping for.... 15" is the perfect size for me.... anything larger is too large portability, so I would have to go down to 14" and sacrifice some screen and battery size :( and no function keys is the deal breaker. I use them all the times, as a developer, windows super user, and gamer. RIP
ОтветитьTbh I don’t like the seamless trackpad and touch function buttons. Didn’t they learn anything when Apple launched and scrapped the Touch Bar?
ОтветитьHATE my new XPS 13. Major downgrade from the 2017 I had. The touchpad is awful. Function bar...terrible. Just garbage.
Ответитьin fairness dell does have inspiron for budget offerrings so no point really have two brands competing with each other
ОтветитьNot too sure about how I feel about the keyboard for the XPS 14/16 models. From a Programmer/Software Engineering POV, it's definitely not ideal. Everything else on paper is seemingly good though.
ОтветитьI didnt get the information that I need about the new xps what I get is you being so biased. Bad review.
ОтветитьI like that the new 16" Dell XPS16 has the newest wifi 7 instead of the older wifi 6e that the new 16" Samsung galaxy book 4's have. I also like that the 16" Dell is actually 16.3" while the new 16" Samsung is apparently just 15.6". That the 16" Dell is actually more, is actually 16.3", it helps me get over the loss of the 17", a little bit less of a drop in screen size. I am anxious to learn about the battery life of the XPS 16, and compare the Samsungs and the Dells in that regard.
ОтветитьIs the ram still upgradable??
ОтветитьI was really hoping to upgrade my XPS 15 9510 this year. As a developer/engineer, function keys are a given. I'm really hoping the Qualcomm X Elite is something new and powerful. I really don't want to have to pay Apple tax for performance and battery life...
ОтветитьAlways a fan of the haptic touchpad. Borders can always be added with a skin. The dealbreaker for me is the lack of a 2nd SSD option
ОтветитьBye bye Dell.
ОтветитьI have the xps 15 (9510). The soldered ram is a mistake in my opinion. They are shooting themselves in the foot going down that route. Might as well go with m3 Mac if I choose to update
ОтветитьHuge disappointment. Like many have said, the touchbar and seamless trackpad is a no-go for me. I already miss the old design. Guess I'll have to wait this generation out.
ОтветитьIt's kind of sad to see Dell not realizing that even Apple has just come back to acutal physical buttons and "oldschool" I/O like a full size SD-Card slot. At this point Dell just wants to make the XPS a lifestyleproduct rather than an actual professional slim workhorse with practical fuctions. To me it seems just like a lot of costcutting...
ОтветитьI have only been using Dell XPS but with this, the absolute deal breaker of not having the physical buttons will ensure that my money goes elsewhere. Non-negotiable.
ОтветитьEww.
ОтветитьI have an XPS 15 9510. Looks like I will have to look at the Lenovo X1 Extreme for my next upgrade. Though I am good for the next couple years.
ОтветитьThank you for sharing this. I'm curious if there's just one SSD slot on the 16". Also, do you know if they improved the cooling for the cpu / gpu and did they limit the RTX GPU's to 40W like before? The camera will be a welcome upgrade, but I kinda hate the "plus" feature of that function bar, the headphone jack is kinda ugly and the "AI" assistance reminds me of Skynet lol
ОтветитьI am okay with the touchpad, but I am not with the function keys and I had XPS notebooks since 2015.
ОтветитьWith the new capacitive keys they just gave Lenovo millions of new customers. Every and each of the developers and Content editors.
ОтветитьHuge fail by dell.
ОтветитьIs WiFi7 an option?
ОтветитьNo physical function keys = no purchase. Simple as that. Dell should make them full-size, as in the new Mac Books. It's a true no-go for programmers.
ОтветитьI don’t understand this fixation on touch buttons on laptops or cars.
Ответитьwhat the hell is up with the brightness wars, it doesn't make any sense when the screens are bright and reflective, all you see is yourself. use matte screens with descent brightness (400nits) and you're good. Otherwise, you'll just murder your battery life with display at 1000 nits outdoor. Besides, the quality of display is not its brightness. Somehow, these reviewers are apple fans boys, they want everything to come with 'Apple specifications'. the new XPS is amazing. and no, developers won't be mad at the capacitive touch row. why assume its not going to work? because Apple couldn't figure out their design? at least let people experience it before you start throwing shade....
ОтветитьDoes Dell offer manual fan control?
ОтветитьDell swapped the SD card slot for the micro SD slot? Really Dell!! What are you thinking? Bring back the SD card slot.
ОтветитьThat would be a no for me
ОтветитьWhat's dumb is it probably cost more to build in those function keys. Did Apple's touch bar designer get fired and rehired at Dell?
Ответить@lukelarsen8228 thanks for the video! any information when it would be available across markets? specifically India market? would it be immediate after CES?
ОтветитьI love the zero-latice keyboard
ОтветитьI think the design is amazing. News flash, not everyone who uses an XPS is a “content creator”, there is actually a world of users outside of the “influencer world”
ОтветитьThis will be overpriced crap... and solthered RAM OMFG!
ОтветитьLooks beautiful. But if you actually need to use the keyboard rather than just look at it - well, good luck :D It was only a few years ago that XPS was my absolute go to choice. Since they started making unusable keyboards then I've been buying Asus or LG the last few years. Dell is going downhill FAST
ОтветитьMicro SD card? Come on man...
Ответитьentire line became complete rubbish
Ответить
