Something important to know most of the US founding fathers were between 26 and 36 years old when this happened.

Florida and the western states used to belong to Spain. When Mexico won its independence from Spain in 1821, these territories became part of Mexico, with the exception of Florida, which was ceded by Spain to the U.S. in 1819 through the Adams-Onís Treaty.

Spain and Mexico had allowed U.S. settlers to move in and work the lands. When Mexico outlawed slavery in 1829, the farmers in Texas, who were heavily reliant on slavery, sought independence and orchestrated a rebellion.

When Mexico sent troops to tackle the revolt, the rebelling U.S. settlers instigated the Mexican army to fire the first shot. The U.S. government never officially declared war on Mexico during the Texas Revolution, but many American volunteers helped Texas win its independence.

Years later, when the U.S. annexed Texas in 1845, there were disputes over borders, leading to the Mexican-American War in 1846.

Mexico had been an independent nation for less than 30 years, following a decade-long war of independence that had major casualties and left the country in significant debt. The U.S. was nearly 70 years old at the time. Moreover, Mexico's central government has always been located in the interior of the country, and the challenging terrain made it difficult to defend its vast northern territories. This is one of the main reasons Mexico was unable to defend its borders and, to this day, struggles to defend itself from cartels that exploit transportation issues.

By the end of the Mexican-American War, Mexico lost half of its land, including the entire northern part of its territory (California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and parts of Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma, and Kansas).

It is also worth mentioning that, although by today’s population standards these states might not seem populated, compared to the rest of the U.S. and Mexico at the time, these were averagely populated areas.

The first colonies to ever fight back against European powers and also the first to win, against Britain, which at the time was unheard of. Really set the stage for the US trajectory. The Boston tea party is why Americans drink coffee. At first it was on principle. Also the "minuteman" is what americans call their nuclear ICBMs as well funnily enough.

Also correction, America as a whole was not a British colony. The British had some colonies and other countries had their own colonies in north america as well.

Yes the siege at Brooklyn Heights was a very similar tactical situation for the American forces as it was for the British and French forces at Dunkirk. Good catch there. You should watch the "TURN" series...NOBODY has done it yet and it is fascinating.

There is both free Bibles in the United States as well as ones that you can purchase. The Gideons group are responsible for most of the free Bibles that you see in hotels and hospitals Etc. However there are many translations that you can purchase of the Bible as well, common sense is still taught in schools today and is purchased all the time hence why it's still number one.

First time on your channel.
Sadly, your constant pause and detract, rewind, resume, pause, joke, continue, pause. question, continue... throws me (individually) off.
You skipped a segment, I believe, when trying to find your place after the error...

And if you want to talk about unusual (from British and most American standards) city names, you should check out my home state of Oklahoma and our neighboring states.
I don't think you'll find too many cities named "Tahlequah" "Oologah" or "Anadarko" anywhere else in the world.

The Bible wasn't an American title. That's what the on screen correction to the audio was. "Best selling American title" and not the "Best selling title in America"

You just "acquire" Bibles? Do you walk off with them from church, or are people just constantly giving them away? I know many are given away, but someone, somewhere, has to buy them, unless you believe every Bible is manifest by God and placed for distribution. [Production costs money] Oh, I see "Steal them from hotels" 1 thing I must say to this: 8th Commandment. If you've stolen a few bibles you should be able to figure this one out.

Siege generally would apply when you (assuming you are the force invoking the siege) dig in, cutting supply lines, and your enemy has nowhere to run, they can't fall back, all you should have to is wait for them to run out of supplies so they surrender, are too weak to fight/too unnerved to fight. Basically, the idea is "starve them of comforts, starve them of food and/or water.

The history of European colonization in a nutshell: Britain, France, Spain, Portugal, and the Dutch all fought for control of the territories until the 18th century, with Spain getting control of most of South America, Southwest US area up to the Mississippi, France held the Louisiana territory, Britain held the rest of the region. Portugal wound up with Brazil, while the Dutch essentially got screwed and only got a few islands in the Caribbean.

Actually, yeah, that is kinda a proper way to respond when you’re outnumbered and people are attacking you. The British soldiers who fired upon the crowd were actually acquitted of the charges of murder against them. They were also represented in that trial by none other than John Adams, the future 2nd president. He DEFENDED the British, but later on changed his political allegiance after Britain removed Massachusetts’ ability to govern themselves (the Intolerable Acts), which is mentioned in the video.
