Dude, I see that this hasn't been said. Some of the names that you have on here are not heroes. An anti-hero is a good guy that chooses a less-viewed path. To compare the hero and the anti-hero, you must look at the modern and most basic comparison of Superman and Batman. Superman chooses to follow the law while defeating. Batman, in comparison, chooses to sometimes do evil deeds in order to carry out justice. While Superman will take someone to jail, Batman will just kill them.

Some of these people aren't heroes. Gollum, Alex, Tom Ripley, and Patrick Bateman are some examples. They are villains, not heroes.

No, no, no no. I never said that Batman was any less of a hero. He is the definition of a hero. But, an anti-hero is a hero that follows a darker path. Superman may scare someone, but he won't kill them. He will throw them in jail, to learn the error of their ways. Not the Bat. Oh, he will throw a mutha-fucker off a rooftop with no hesitation, just because he can, will, and knows that it will work out better in the long run. Why he never does the Joker in, I don't know, but that is another story
