Never disappointed grew up fishing Tampa Bay then after military career lived in California fishing for striper salmon and halibut my mom used to love fishing with me and it's time to enjoy life and yes California fishing isn't great after the gulf of Mexico. Why did your mom catch your fish but she didn’t get any of the meat

The meat is awesome kind of a small filet unless you got skills the guts are especially nasty so wash them good but super fun to catch straight down with a fiddler crab they like to run around the pilings in the barnacles will cut the string if you don't have kind of a heavier Weight line at least in my experience ! And if you don't set the hook right it has hard Jaws .
