We're excited to announce a new podcast series called Veterans Never Stop Serving, available wherever you stream podcasts. Our podcast series highlights the individual stories of wounded and injured veterans.

In each episode you will hear about their journeys from impact to rehabilitation, returning home, transitioning to higher education, and onto their career objective.

Their stories of successful transitions from military life to fulfilling career dreams are powerful and inspiring. We hope you will join us to listen to their stories and understand the after-service value they bring to our nation.

In this episode, Mike Conklin, Chairman & CEO of Sentinels of Freedom, chats with graduated Sentinel John Wayne Walding. Being born on the fourth of July with a name like John Wayne, arguably few people could be called more American. SFC Walding grew up in Texas and was raised by his grandparents. He played baseball, and football and helped his grandfather on the farm. He graduated from high school in 1999 and joined the Army in 2001. John Wayne was involved in the initial invasion of Iraq in 2003 and joined the Special Forces in 2005. He deployed for a second tour to Afghanistan in 2007-2008. During his second tour on April 6, 2008, he lost the lower half of his right leg to sniper fire during an operation in the Shok Valley of Afghanistan. Due to his bravery and valor, he received the Silver Star, the Bronze Star and was awarded the Purple Heart as well as numerous other medals. He and his wife Amy have 4 children.
