On The Southern Coast Of China, At The Mouth Of The Pearl River Delta, Lies Hongkong, A Special Administrative Region (SAR) Of China.
Technically, Hong Kong Is A Region, Not A Single City Or State. It Consists Of Multiple Cities And Districts, Though It Is Often Referred To As A City Due To Its Highly Urbanized Nature. It Consists Of Three Main Areas - Hong Kong Island, Kowloon Peninsula And The The New Territories, Which Includes Lantau Island, Tsing Yi Island, And Over 250 Smaller Islands.

Hongkong Is Situated Along The Eastern Side Of The Pearl River Delta, Facing The South China Sea. It Is Bordered To The North By Shenzhen, A Major City In Guangdong Province, And Lies Approximately 120 Km (75 Miles) Southeast Of Guangzhou, Guangdong’s Capital. To The West, Across The Pearl River Estuary, Lies Macao, Another Special Administrative Region Of China. Hong Kong And Macau Are Connected Through The Hong Kong–Zhuhai –Macau Bridge. The World’s Longest Sea Bridge Crossing, Spanning 55 Kilometers (34 Miles). Hong Kong Covers A Land Area Of Over 1,114 Square Kilometers And A Sea Area Of Over 1,640 Square Kilometers, Thus Giving It A Total Area Of 2755 Sq km. Lantau Island Is The Largest Island By Area, While Hong Kong Island Is The Second Largest. The Kowloon Peninsula Is Attached To The New Territories To The North, And The New Territories Spans Northwards Eventually Connecting With Mainland China. The Narrow Body Of Water Which Separates Hong Kong Island From The Kowloon Peninsula Is Known As Victoria Harbour And Is One Of The Deepest Natural Maritime Ports In The World.



Hong Kong’s Geography Is A Mix Of Rugged, Mountainous Terrain And Densely Populated Urban Areas, Creating A Unique Cityscape Where Nature Meets Urban Development. Most Of Hongkong's Urban Development Exists On The Kowloon Peninsula, Along The Northern Shores Of Hong Kong Island And In Scattered Settlements Throughout The New Territories. Around 75% Of The Hong Kong's Land Is Mountainous Or Rural, Consisting Of Country Parks, Forests, And Mountains, While The Remaining 25% Is Urbanised And Developed.

Despite Its Small Size, Hong Kong Is Home To Over 7.5 Million People, Over Half Of Hong Kong Population Lives In The New Territories, Which Covers 86% Of The Total Area. Hong Kong Island Has Population Of Roughly 1.2 Million, While Kowloon Has Population Of Roughly 2.1 Million. Sha Tin Is The Most Populous District In Entire Hong Kong And Has A Population Of Roughly 700,000 Inhabitants. Most Of Them Live In High-rise Apartments, Over 50% Of Hong Kong’s Residents Live Above The 14th Floor, Making It One Of The Most Vertically Oriented Cities Globally. Hong Kong Is Actually The Skyscraper Capital Of The Entire World. It Has The Most Skyscrapers In The World, With Over 9,000 Buildings Exceeding 100 Meters In Height. Its Skyline Features Over 563 Buildings Taller Than 150 Meters, More Than New York City Or Shanghai. Victoria Harbour’s Skyline Is Iconic And Often Rated Among The Most Beautiful In The World.
