With its 11 inch coil and 12 MHz frequency the Simplex+ had the depth and recovery speed of detectors costing $1700. The newer model Smplex Ultra has a higher frequency of 15 MHz which gives it slightly less depth making it more sensitive to mineralized ground and beaches. Nokta added a ground canceling feature to compensate for the increased falsing but this feature only tends to sacrifice depth as well. I've been a loyal Nokta user however the features, depth capabilities and multiple frequencies and tones of the Minelab X-Terra Pro were too hard resist at $269 compared to the Simplex Ultra at $349. Don't know which is worse the quacking duck sound of the original Simplex or screaming seagulls of the Simplex Ultra :-).
