If they don't accept him to have that DEI messaging, then just request him to remove it. Not just straight out delete his content and his account!

Unpopular opinion here.
Shying away from politics is immature and childish. Just because you ignore the political parties, actors and tensions in between them, they won't stop affecting you and your life. I'm telling this as someone who lives in a war-torn country.
Yes, I absolutely agree with the fact that FreeDesktop has made a dick move by not being transparent in their ban of Enrico. And I won't deny the fact certain big parties want to see Xorg dead for good.
However, I won't trust Enrico either — not until he makes a clear stand regarding what/who he actually supports and what/who he actually stands against. It may sound like a paradox, but the blind tolerance for everyone and everything without identifying the "rotten apples" is exactly what leads to getting under influence of malicious groups sooner or later.

I don't see why I would ever want or need Xorg anymore. Quite frankly I see this as the same type of people that do everything in their power to avoid systemd; and come up with all sorts of different solutions that aren't even really better; just different for the sake of being different. But if someone wants to spend their time on this; good luck I guess.

The real question is: why would a large corporation like IBM work so hard to force us to use the same graphics server? I know this sounds a bit paramoid, but this reeks of an upcoming privatization of wayland source leading to a huge loss of privacy. That's the #1 reason why there should always be multiple choices of open source solutions.

Xorg has been stifled for a painfully long time. It looks like "blue washing" to me. Of course they wouldn't want it forked by the most active developer on the project. I think we should be wary of these CoC committees.

I think the fork happened too late. Wayland is for most people in a state where it's usable. Had it been forked some years ago, it might have had a chance to survive.

code of conduct was always a trojan horse, I saw this coming 10 years ago.
it's the moderator class, they're a problem everywhere, community managers, moderators and administrators are unaccountable.
they need to be regulated, doesn't matter if we're talking open source projects, social media platforms or IRL groups like clubs and HoAs, they need to be regulated, hard.
I don't know about you, but the next people on my personal shtlist are any kind of karens like these.

Reminds me of neovim. In a few years Xorg will be copying everything Xlibre does, but slower and more backwards-compatible. Just to stay alive. Since I guarantee, many redhat users simply will not ever switch to Wayland because it refuses to be compatible. A bit ironic since Xlibre is breaking ABI and API to go forward. Hmmmmm 🤔

Thanks for being impartial.
When you point out his contentious merges I want to point out however that I'm on his side, that ABI should be broken, and it should be made clear via versioning. It's an improvement to be more restrictive about drivers the way Xlibre has done. I think your coverage of that was the only thing that came off impartial, and I don't think it's because you like Wayland, I think you simply haven't been in the weeds with this kind of development personally. Again, thanks, for something in between "Wayland good" and "Wayland bad"

Oh no, metux broke something in Xorg! The one they're trying to replace with Wayland, which by design can't support a lot more usecases than metux broke. Software bugs happen. Expecting metux never to break anything is absolutely ridiculous when you're breaking features and use cases left and right in your replacement.

That's what you get went you let the wolf enter the village... It eats you. Microsoft took github so now they decide who fork what. And we have the little tyrans at Xorg that decide to kill X11 the very software they had been entitled to protect. They try to stop fork and development because they have the property of it... Property?! Of libre software ?! Are you kiding me ?! But we are very very sympatical because we fear to be cancel by those goof balls little tyran. Rebel people ...

At the same times guys.... You lack of vigilance. You ask for xorg or github to host your fork, guys you want to rebel go to the sierra nevada get your own shit and host your own fork... Do as xorg foundation did back in the 200X you plead for donation and sweae you will protect that piece of history x11. But then my guys will you resist the millions droped you way by redhat and microsoft to close your fork?! Will any distribution and destop library still support your fork? Will you fork since it's heavyly enhanced will still support tiny configs ?! Etc...

The whole world focus hate on redhat while Microsoft has put his money on every linux aspect. Why xorg little tyrans act as they do. First because they don't get donations from the public anymore, they take their money from the GaFaM. Then they can't affort to have people still working on x11 and almosr none on wayland. X11 is pantented un maintainable since 2008 guys and the first to have done that statement was the numero uno distro of the time ubuntu which statement they turned it material releasing the unity desktop. The whole thing was to give a modern look to boring gnome 2 desktop. Since Gnome 3.0 was announced and borring then ubuntu advocated to drop at the same time gnome and x11. Why because according to them it was too archaical had poor 3d and general gfx hardware acceleration support. Not forgetting that ati and nvidia backed very mutch that. "It's already painfull to work with Linus Torvald on gfx drivers for linux kernel but if on top of that we have to fight with thr bearded dastards at Xorg and X11 that will never work!" Anyway profecional work linux pass through command console or webapps interface rendered anywhere else than a linux desktop. So yeah killing linux desktop is not a big deal for the woke lards that replaced the bearded ones.

From my distance it seems there are two competing philosophies:
1. Stability first: because new solutions will be through Wayland, but if they don't work for you, you can fall back on exactly what you had before.
2. Improvement first: because X has ugly code and missing features that can be added.

Since the obvious compromise of doing one in tagged releases and the other in a development branch didn't work out, the fork totally makes sense, and as someone who really enjoys how there are multiple free-software options for most tasks, some sort of future for X11 sounds great to me.

Wayland has not really improved things, but taken lots of functions away. I personally like X better. What would improve it would be an easy config app in text mode.

Systemd is my real area of hate though, and Rust. If you havent noticed, Rust is a trojan horse where they change the licenses from GPL to more "corporate friendly" ones.....

Not sure how this misunderstanding came about or why the comment got so upvoted but this readme was on the original Gitlab repo on free desktop.

EDIT: I know some people want to point to a post by Jordan Petridis and Sebastian Wick as proof that there's a conspiracy and there very well may be one within GNOME, I don't know or care. However neither of them work on the Xorg project and they have absolutely 0 say in what it does.
