The Secret Behind Mel's Green Skin in The Gaslight District Theory

Did you notice this in The gaslight district?

Since the release of the pilot, fans have been theorising about the design of the protagonist mel. Let me explain.

So a key point of the pilot is showcasing the history of mel. She was a human born in paradise lost, eventually being raised by ken the butcher.

Mel is a human, however she resembles the rotlings in the gaslight district with her green skin and red eyes.

In a photograph of her as a baby she looks fairly normal. And around the area where mel was injured, it looks human-like.

So perhaps mel wears all her bandages to disguise the fact she’s a human. Maybe she wears makeup as well to change her skin complexion.

This could explain why she looks the way she does, and has black blood since she’s part angel.
