I spent about 18 months in Kholmsk Russia (Sakhalin Island) and most of the women dressed very nice and put a lot of effort into their appearance. I don't think it's much of a crisis. All of these issues apply to Ukrainian men and women as well, and lead to desirable traits in men such as being politically active, bravery, inventiveness, etc. Identical traits have different outcomes based on income, government policy, etc., and don't really predict them so well.

Women by nature are hypergamous. They all want a big strong man who will protect them and provide resources for their children. Problem for most men is, women prefer polygamy to marrying someone that does not meet thier standards. The men think one guy getting all the girls is unfair and enforce monogamy. In "Fiddler on the Roof", all the girls wanted to marry the rabbi's son. In moderan America all the girls want to marry Brad Pitt. Many American women refuse to settle in their 20s and then find themselves never married cat ladies in their 40s. This is nothing new and all stable tradition societies have arranged marriages.

Reading Tolstoy, I notice that a lot of men would go to the front in the caucuses hoping to move up in the world and get combat pay. There was a lot of drinking and gambling into deep debt with cards. I used to love Russian cam girls but the Ukraine war destroyed all that.
