Does anyone know why they’re cutting these jobs? Is it to reduce waste?

Come on, Kagan. "Getting rid of waste" is ambiguous and nebulous reasoning. Think critically here.

The plan of what's next has to be explained. Or an explanation of what this cut specifically does. Otherwise, it is less support and fewer services that are critically needed.

You may not use them. But I'm guessing your brothers and sisters in arms do.

I'm not religious, but VA and vet support should be sacrosanct.

Go through VA benefits application was very complicated and painful process. Not mention the stress to go through to apply a VA loan.Further more, a lot of VA won't get benefits they deserved and end on the street homeless. VA system need to reform, reshape to help VA with updated tech. One things is for sure, the system is not functioning effectively and efficiently.

My sister was a the VA for a medical condition and while visiting i would talk to the workers and the all said it's a racket. They would hire their cousins, sisters, brothers. The head cook in the kitchen didn't even know how to cook but was hired by his sister. Food was awful. A few illegals. Its a mess, i felt sorry for the people there. One of the servers said the throw away about $35000 of food a month. Insane.

I go to the Dayton VA, and they have fixed a ton of problems at the VA, but i only have one problem. I only see my doctor every 6 months. But my hematology doctor is always on top of my cancer. Its slow, but their helping a huge number of people. I'm not sure cutting people is the plan. It's slow now. God bless everyone.

It wasn’t just veterans fired from the VA. Regular citizens as well. Being a veteran doesn’t make you better than them so stop acting like it does. You have plenty of benefits that support you and your family but being guaranteed a job isn’t one of them. We aren’t worth more than the regular citizens that lost their job.

Went to the ER yesterday cause the VA couldnt see me. The ER told me i have to talk to my primary care provider for specialty care. The VA gatekeeps and has a multiple month process for a document in my city to be processed by the records section. Which is backed up often 3+ months for something as simple as an xray from a doctor in the same city as the VA hospital you receive care.

While all the physicals for disability go through the longest stalling period and blatant attempts to drop claims. When the condition is permanent and showing rapid signs of degradation. Every 2 months i try to refute them and its a brand new company in a brand new renovated building. Sometimes leased from the tallest building in the city. All the agencies are from CALIFORNIA. Why is the VA giving these massive contracts to people in California but not locally sourcing people?

It's the same as the UK ,NHS, and the western concept that salary equals competency. Wake up { apparently your already "woke"} , perhaps make the incompetent easier to bin, ane reward the more proven competent with extra holidays, easier shift patterns, one day a week working from home to catch up on paperwork rather than verbatim benefits for all. Just a thought.

I'm guessing that would mean they Employ abt. 80,000 more ppl. Than they actually Need!
Which, would be about right. What, with the amount of Fraud and Waste that the Govt and Military are responsible for Generating. The Beast must be fed! If no one is checking you, and you know that the more Jobs, Positions and Depts you create, has the added Benefit of Securing more Budget Funding, (More $$ to spend on frivolous sh*t), while also giving you plenty more "Shells" to hide the "Peanut", under and more of a " Shuffle" to get lost in ! And at the same time, lightening your own Workload. Thus, creating an Enormous Monstrosity, which (For its very own Survival), MUST Justify its own existence! So, what VETS actually end up getting is More Red-Tape, than ever before, Delayed Benefits More phone #'s and Ext. to call, only to be put on HOLD, more often, for longer periods of time, more frikken FORMS to fill out! More, ppl. that need to meet with you, to sign off on your Case. (Everyone, gets a piece of your Benefits, but none of your Misery!) Unchecked and Untreated Mental Illness, PTSD, The Banning of the One "Drug" which can provide Instant relief! " IBOGAINE"), resulting in more strained relationships, Domestic Abuse, assaults. Drug and Alcohol Abuse. Divorce, Bankruptcy, Homelessness, and 22+ VETS/ DAY taking their own Lives! And a Cycle which Repeats in perpetuity! But, that INITIAL CONTACT (response time) is way down, so let's pat ourselves on the backs! And you know what!? Imagine, what COULD be available. Customer Service, Resources, LESS Bureaucracy, when the VA isn't paying, Payroll, Benefits Package and Vacation Pay, Every Week, of Every Month, id Every Year, for 80,000 (THOUSAND!!) Extra Employees! That's my take, anyway!

But... But... VA always has the very latest equipment known to science, particularly their bureaucratic computer systems. True, it took 13 months to get an eye appointment, which was cancelled and rescheduled for 6 months after that, and I haven't been able to see a doctor for a physical in around 3 years, because they keep cutting hours....
