VIEWS ALONG THE RIVER TYNE The source of the River South Tyne

Views along the River Tyne. This video shows us in the summer of 2023, walking to the source of the South Tyne. It is across the border into Cumbria, south of Alston, called Carrigill. It had a gate, to stop cars from travelling beyond but it was right of access the the public on foot. There was information that said it was 2.1 miles and it would take 45 minutes to walk. But, it was a very hot day in June and it was uphill. It took, 1 and a half hours. When we got there, there were stone bolders as markers to mark the source. The source of the Tyne was a spring coming from the grassy bank. As you watch the video you can see how the river gerts smaller and smaller, until it becomes a stream and a trickle of water.
