I'm not in the film industry or even a hard-core movie buff, but when the lighting changes at the end when Gekko says "start getting me information" is brilliant film making

Just to think- Nancy Pelosi does better than Gordon

He only divulges this illegal information request after making sure there was no chance of him having a wire or recording device, IE after getting dressed. This movie is full of subtle details like this. My favorite Oliver Stone film.

As a little boy my model of masculinity was Michael Douglas in Romancing the Stone.

When i was a kid then i wish i paid more attention to this movie like i did with Scarface.
Money is more important to me than a wife and kids.
The kids are gone and the ex-wife is gone.
Money is the only thing that matters in America.

This is powerful. I’m no fan of Hollywood or movies but there’s many lessons and quotes in films like these which should make a person think.

Very big book!

NBC, ABC, Disney and Wall Street are part of the horrible dehumanization and corporatization happening through mass media brainwashing and actual 'real life' corporatization with programs like the JEDI cloud program. This includes the police, Scientology, the military and psychiatry. It's a form of eugenics and population control hidden by all the mass media noise. They target teens and kids especially since they're impressionable. The actress Kate Walsh is an example, her shows all do this. Any of the medical dramas are part of this.

Film fact: Oliver stone wrote Gekko as an obnoxious, ego centric go-getter but it was performed so well by Michael Douglas that he became iconic and loved by audiences much to Stone's chagrin

Knowing guidance before everyone else is information, knowing people like to sell after large price spikes is intuition.

Every time I see a clip of Wall Street I have to stop and watch it. One of my favorite all-time movies. Michael Douglas is fantastic as GG!

A lot in this scene is missed by the casual observer. The towels nonchalantly thrown on top of the lockers shows how the members of the club just take for granted that some peasant is going to come along and square the away. Also, the way the light completely falls away when Gekko tells Bud to stop sending him information and start getting him some. The dark side. It’s Darth Vader in a suit. Very cool.

what has happened in 2023, why are we not producing these kind of movies anymore?

Because of this scene I switched from day trading to swing trading.

Really good film. Douglas is great and Sheen was up and coming. Sheen could've had a big career. Another druggie gone down the tubes.

Oliver Stone originally wanted to cast Warren Beatty and Tom Cruise in this film in the Douglas and Sheen roles. Tom Cruise would have knocked it out of the park, shame it never got cast that way in the end. He was apparently filming Rain Man at the time

Not sure about accuracy in re Gekko Corporate Raider (people likely have forgotten what green mail is) as for the spirit of the Era spot on the massively expensive trinkets, yuppy condo greed is good, all part of the spirit of the times
