Someone asked for a Pepsi lmao Conan is a genius
ОтветитьFunny to hear a metal drummer trying to analyze history. "Sikorsky helicopter" and the lot . . .
ОтветитьWeird it's the evil Russians again
ОтветитьMETALLIACE SAVE THE WORLD, WE NEED YOU NOW
Ответитьlove the power of music
ОтветитьWhat an interesting life this man has lived
Ответитьmusic is "freedom"
ОтветитьDon't play Israel for Netanyahu.... bad vibes
Ответитьlars is awesome!
ОтветитьThanks Conan 🤘🤘
ОтветитьMetallica was amazingly impressive but Pantera was a whole other level in Moscow
ОтветитьGetting further back in time to match the situation today, sadly.
ОтветитьFunny him saying that bootleg tapes handed around russia made them kinda famous there and then sueing napstar
ОтветитьAnybody remember Napster? Lars does.
ОтветитьWant to stop the war in Ukraine send Metallica to do a concert!
ОтветитьLars' facial expressions and the way he relays the stories makes me think so much of current-era Michael Keaton.
ОтветитьLars you played in fkng ARGENTINEAN antartica!! SMH.........
ОтветитьI saw Metallica in 1990 or 91 (Lubbock, TX). maybe later (black album). All of the band was terrific, but Lars acted like it was his first concert. He was incredible. They played 3 hours plus, no breaks. Their last song, "One", Lars looked like he didn't want to leave.
I've seen great shows, but that one was.....Wow!
How pisse3d were those penguins? Metallica comes and they can't hear it?
ОтветитьI doubt there was that many in attendance the Russians tend to exaggerate their numbers to satisfy the Kremlin. Great concert by the way.
ОтветитьThis is how you do a podcast. do some research, be prepared and ask good questions.
ОтветитьUmmmm hey Lars, in 1991 people were not worried about the bomb being dropped anymore, hence the wall coming down and you playing there.
Ответить1,6 million at attendance,- thats about 1/5 of the entire norwegian population....
ОтветитьIt was that day in 1991 that lars' hatred for bootlegged music.
ОтветитьGroucho Marx got his start in show business by answering a want ad, and Harpo Marx played Russia in the middle of Stalinism. Why exactly there could be a comparison between Metallica and the Marx Brothers, or indeed why anyone would want to do so, um, where was I going with this?
ОтветитьThe drum solo Lars played while talking to Conan is his best ever.
ОтветитьConcert was epic and i have re-watched it many times, but Lars is very clumsy with history. Perestroika began 87-88 and Soviet Union had a massive record industry with Melodia firm, also distributing western stuff without paying the licence fee. Metallica´s stuff was sold and re-recorded in the endless flow of pirate cassettes. By 1991 there were several smaller record companies at work who took more alternative approach. But hearing Metallica in Soviet Union from the cassette back in 87 was a bang from outer space.
ОтветитьLars is a great storyteller
ОтветитьNice!
ОтветитьDude what a good podcast
Ответить1.6 million people in 1991 thats 32 million today with inflation.
ОтветитьThe Moscow show is the day Rock Music defeated Communism.
ОтветитьThe helicopters were there to push the air around because to many people .
ОтветитьMan, there was a lot of late night alcohol involved in both sides of this interview.
Ответить“…and one guy asked for a Pepsi..!” 😂😂😂 Konan
ОтветитьGreat band but you can tell this blokes a prick
Wouldn’t be able to stop telling you how great he is
Next to Woodstock it might be the top 10 of the most significant music events in history.
ОтветитьMetallica and ac/dc in one concert must be the greatest of all time !
Ответитьthey stopped counting at 1.6 million...the number was over 2 mil.
Ответитьhelicopter move fresh air
ОтветитьLOVE IT!
ОтветитьThe scale and the use of music to essentially shake off the shackles of oppressive regimes is outstanding and such a privilege to be a fan of this music and understanding
ОтветитьMetallica played on the Carlini part, thats the Argentinian's base, of course there were Chilean but that fact was not like that, gotta love Lars though
ОтветитьPeople in general dont hate other people .. people with bad ideas teach hate and people who dont know love suck it up because it makes them feel special.
ОтветитьAww, why didn't ulrich sue all the people of Russia for listening to metallica behind the iron curtain without paying him money for that?
Ответить3 grams of magic mushrooms one set of headphones and that Moscow 1991 concert is my monthly getaway . the adrenaline is on 100% it's almost a spiritual experience .
ОтветитьAny time I hear Lars admit that Metallica spread so far due to bootleg tapes, I laugh to myself.
I wonder if Glenn Danzig and Jerry Only have ever thanked Metallica for making their careers?
