Hi Gordon, great review...Looking to upgrade from 70D to R6...I have EF 70-200 1.4 L, EF 24-105 1.4 IS, EF 400 F5.6L, EF 100 F2.8 macro Lenses ... would you think these lenses would work optimally with the adapter? Regards. Spike
ОтветитьHi Gordon.
A question if you don't mind.
I'm thinking of moving to R6 from my trusty 6D.
I understand that lens micro adjustment isn't required with mirrorless cameras and the RF lenses.
If I buy the R6 I'll be starting with my ef lenses with an adapter.
My question is, would I have to micro adjust the EF lenses?
Or do the mirrorless bodies remove any need for that as they do with the RF lenses?
Many thanks in advance if you can reply..
great video
ОтветитьStill using 6dii and looking to upgrade, but not yet. Will wait and see what happens with the new budget FF they are supposedly releasing next year, hopefully it will be a mini R3 of sorts
ОтветитьHallelujah, a stills only review! Thanks 😊
ОтветитьHonestly can't tell difference. 20mp R6 more than keeps up with my Sony A7Riv 90% of the time. Only time it will lag if I crop 400% or more.
ОтветитьAlso before the Sony A7IV, the 20Mpix on the R6 was a big disappointment .... getting an old sensor, which was admittedly good, still felt very wrong.
And now that the Sony A7IV came .... it feels even more wrong that Canon did not come with a new 30Mpix sensor.
(And R5 become way too expensive)
It's like Canon does not want to understand what the market wants. Sony sees all the complaints that Canon receives and seems to start from that. And then of course looks much better for everyone who cares and reads a little. And why Canon always feels like making these big mistakes over and over again, is a mystery to me ... Is it idiots who control Canon ... Yes!!! Obviously! They always hold back ... R6II with more Mpix will probably come faster than expected, because Sony "forces" them to give what they are not really willing to do.
very useful review!! thank you so much.
Ответитьif i upgrade from the 5d mk IV to the R6 - is this a good choice?
ОтветитьThanks Gordon for this great review! I am currently using the RP and was wondering if it is worth for me to upgrade it as R6, now I think I should save a bit more of money to get the R5 instead.
ОтветитьBest reviews!
Greetings from Aruba!
Gordon, you've helped me make my decision to get an R6 rather than an R5, like you've probably helped many others. I am not a professional photographer anyway and I'd rather spend the money on a lens. Thinking about a 24 -240 all purpose lens. Any thoughts on the lens would be welcome and appreciated! Upgrading from an EOS T2i from 9 years ago, I think I'll be more than happy with an R6. Thanks again, Gordon! BTW, I love your reviews!
Ответитьhey gordon! thanks for this great review! did you end up getting the r6? are you happy with it? im considering gettig one. cheers!
ОтветитьGreat review! I have a stupid question....I understand that the fps rate goes down in mechanical shutter when the battery drops below 60%, but what about electronic shutter? Does it keep 20fps even when the battery is low?
Ответитьwhich Panasonic Lumix S do you recommend?
ОтветитьI only shoot stills, so your reviews are the most valuable to me. I'm thinking of getting the R6 with 24-70 to replace my Fuji XT-3 that I have heavily invested in with lenses. My problem is that I am disappointed with the autofocus of the Fuji. More than 50% of my images have fuzzy eyes, and there is much hit or miss, so I have grown frustrated. I also would like to print my images up to 16X20" with maybe a couple of 20X24" to display on my walls, and I was wondering, how does the image quality of the 20mp Canon R6 compare to the 26mp crop sensor of the Fuji? I used to own a Canon 5D Mk III and loved it, but I went to Fuji for weight saving reasons for travel. I fear I may have made a mistake. Shall I beg Canon for forgiveness and ask them to take me back? I would appreciate your advice.
ОтветитьExcellent video. I’m off to get my R6! Many thanks!
ОтветитьI'm an existing RP owner who's been deliberating about upgrading to an R6 or R5 for a while. This is a very useful video. Thanks Gordon! (R6 is the one for me)
ОтветитьA skewed background can be fixed in Photoshop very quickly if you need 20fps. Excellent review for someone still using a DSLR and wondering what all the fuss is about. Thanks for not talking about video.
ОтветитьAfter a long time I got adeep review on R 6 camera with you. I have gone for many U tubers comments in hindi and english language to purchase aCamera for still photography to exposing rugs and carpets in which Colours are very important Thank again. Keep it continue on reviewing. Dr. Anand Baranwal. Varansi 🇮🇳India.
ОтветитьDear Gorden Thanks for good review I want to know about Dual pixel focus and how it can help in product photo shoot. Ànand Baranwal Vàranasi India
ОтветитьGreat review 👍 Thanks.
ОтветитьI stopped watching when you used JPG for the noise comparison. Who cares if the RAW is bets? Still a much better comparison than JPG,
ОтветитьNoise comparison using JPG had me stop watching, and a “do not recommend channel in future”. RAW is beta, so you did jpg instead? Really???
ОтветитьBravo.
ОтветитьSomething people don't talk about enough is how forgiving this camera is for handheld camera shake and nighttime photography. You're mathematically able to get up to a 4 second long shutter speed handheld: this means that you can brighten up backgrounds in night photography then combine that with rear curtain sync on a flash to greatly increase your signal to noise ratio in your image, and that's before counting in how well the sensor does with ISO noise on top of that.
ОтветитьSubscribed . Have been watching your videos for long but didn’t realize that I had not subscribed. Now I have.
ОтветитьCanon would be shooting itself in the foot, putting a sensor X line of 20MP in the 1Dx M3, which does not deliver maximum quality, and I'm talking about a camera at the level of demanding in the most demanding in photography, canon knows very well what did with that 20MP X sensor.
Ответитьhi Gordon i have a question about the r 6 or r5 no one ever mentions the or reviews iso 50 ?? Both of these Cameras offer this is so it much better than iso 100 and if so by how much ? being a landscape photographer, The Nikon z7 ii is used by a lot photographers at iso 64 and is raved about but everyone else mentions high iso when it come s to canon
with your tests id ilke to know what you think after all if you get every last Drop of detail out of a camera why not especially with landscape or macro and anything else for that matter
Thank you for the work you have put into this, Mr Gordon, and greetings from Czech Prague. :-)
ОтветитьGood detailed review although ads are as usual a major pain. Theses a lot to like in this camera but I may still wait for another model with a higher sensor resolution (30mp would be perfection), and a more robust build and weather sealing and a price somewhere between the R6 and the R5.
Ответитьhi! i don;t know if i take the S5, S1,GH6, OM-1,G9 , XT4,Z6II but in many review , you are the only one make me choose the R6. you are very professional person, making serious test . thanks a lot sir. your smile too!
ОтветитьG - are people buying the R5 because they need to crop their shots all the time? the R6 seems to be fine as long as you don't plan to crop into your shots.
ОтветитьElectronic shutter basically like rolling shutter on how video camera or video mode works, it's scanning the sensor from top to bottom that is why there is skew when it's pan
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьI like this approach to the review of the R6 in two parts, photography and videography was insirational. I am an EOS RP owner of two years and the short comings are now annoying me no end. The biggest thing is the battery life and battery indicator, I thought that the RP would make a great hoilday camera only to be let down by the battery and always having a spare in your pocket. Sorry lets get back to the R6 your review has very helpfull and now have got the R6 MK2 and loving it.
ОтветитьDo other camera manufacturers also offer similar in-camera-expansion of Dynamic Range by shooting in HEIF and converting to .jpg? Sony offers HEIF & HLG-still images, but there is no possibility of in camera .jpg-conversion, which is such a pitty.
ОтветитьWhat settings do I need to make so that the tracking focus comes out in blue, because now it only comes out in white? Does it matter that I have an adapter from EF lenses to RF?
Ответить“No one ever complained about the image quality of the canon 1Dx” wise words.
Enjoyed this review, appreciate your time.
are there any significant changes from default firmware to latest firmware?
ОтветитьHey Gordon! Just found your channel and super informative!! I purchased the s5ii coming from a Sony a6000 but autofocus is lacking for me. I recently did portrait photography. I found your video and right now the r6 is the same price as the r8 so I’m torn between the two. Could you help me out please? The R6ii is out of my price range
ОтветитьI switched from my 5DIII to the R6 and I love it ! Only drawback is the battery life but I can still use my old batteries.
ОтветитьThis is a much better piece of gear than it's regularly being described.
ОтветитьDouble resolution from 25 mp is 100 mp. When you realise that , adding 10 megapixels to 24 is not adding much.
ОтветитьI think if someone produces a camera with simply two dials, one for shadow and one for highlights, that would be a smart move. X-T100 s shadow on minus 2 does not lift it it only softens it and it looks unnatural.
ОтветитьThe more time goes by, the better this camera gets. A gem. In 2024, August, it's 1200 EUR on MPB in excellent condition, without box. It's hard to beat perfection when it's that cheap.
ОтветитьCanon still uses OUTDATED decades old front-lit CMOS sensors. A7sIII is superior but still has problems. By now industry should have been moving to new sensor technology such as SPAD or x1000 more sensitive graphene sensors.
