Best guitar solo of all times, Mark Knopfler, Dire Straits (Alchemy live)

I have heard so much from dire straits when I was young. Althoug Mark Plays well, this is not for me.

I confess to being a huge mark fan but so much is personal taste,like best bassist,drummer ,keyboard etc,they simply dont exist

only a few can pull off that kind of solo with a headband the way Mark & Jimi Hendrix can!

I like Dire Straits, but the idea that this is the best solo by Mark Knopfler, let alone the best of all times, is far from the truth. I find this particular solo a bit formulaic, and there are many other claims to be best solos that have merit, including others by Knopfler. It was really good… but IMHO not the best.

no one made it look so easy, beautiful, but it isn't a solo.

I agree it is an amazing guitar solo, best ever I don't know. It certainly is one of the most musical solos in a plethora of screeching fast rips that make the ears hurt and at times make no sense. I thoroughly enjoyed it, great band and guitar player!!

There is no "Best guitar solo of all times"! Art is not sport! There are no races nor championship in Music or painting. Mark Knopfler is a great guitarist having his own style and he definitely deserve to be in the Hall of Fame of the guitar heroes...Together with some other heroes...

Uh, sorry, but this solo contains about 1.5 musical ideas, and Knopfler is vastly eclipsed by Duane Allman, Hendrix, Clapton, and countless others.
