L272 Op Amp= 1 Amp Output/1.5A peak (500k input resistance ;)
Came across one of those in an old '87 Magnavox CD player driving the disk motor. I had no idea op amps are made at that level of output current.

Does the mosfet have to be in the feedback loop to make this work ? If the mosfet it is hard on then there would be 12v across RL and Vgs would not be enough to keep it on.

But what if I just want the output to be a passive resistor as the digipot is, but just be able to handle more current, Is there a way to accomplish that?
