I keep on watching your vidéo and i believe that our native country will rease up in economy and social levels , but not as our neighbor Thaïland where environmental problem and delinquency begin due to abundant tourism

You have a long journey visiting Thailand and Malaysia, hopefully it was a good trip both in Thailand and Malaysia.

Very true and funny when you think about the translations. I have friends whose family members are named after animals that you can grill. Bird, chicken, shrimp, crab, fish and periwinkles.

Beautiful area. Hope they are able to finish before the heavy rain arrives.

In Singapore Chinese society, it is common for the older generation to name their kid after cat, dog, pig, etc, but not Octopus (Sotong) as it is an insult, “Blur Like Sotong” mean you are clumsy like an Octopus with too many hands. Hahaha

Very interesting! Chinese parents would invite a well educated elder or someone who knows astrology to pick a name for their babies. Chinese parents will embed their hope and special meanings into the names of their kids.

Very interesting insight into Lao culture. In the western world the names also have meaning ie: Araceli (fairly common name for a guirl in Spain and Italy) is "Altar del cielo" or Heaven's Altar. And often times the names are chosen whith this meanings in mind.

If the names are not in English then it's fine coz foreigners won't understand "wont't look funny "

What a cute and funny video. I love learning about these cultural tibits. I must say that these names sound much more elegant in Lao than in English. Also, I'm sure someone will name their new baby "octopus" after watching this video. 😅

If you thought Lao names are weird, you should look into Thai people's names... 😂 i was on Thai dating app, and a lot of them girls are named ''Oil'' i was like what the hell, why are there so many girls with name Oil.... 😂 Why oil of all things???
