What if height growth has stopped? I went through puberty young so I stopped growing

I was 80th percentile before my ED (14) but even though I was eating 3000 kcal + a day I stopped gaining weight around the 60th percentile (16 yrs) and stayed at a weight 7 kg below my highest

I'm quite short though and haven't grown height wise since I was 12

I developed anorexia at 12 1/2 I’m now 13 and haven’t grown in height. I already had my first period but then lost it due to weight loss. If I recover is there any possibility that I can catch up on my height growth?

Hey, I had anorexia at 13 for a year, I made a good recovery. At 13 i was 4'7, I'm 15 now and I am 5'3 as a male. Did I lose my height? My sister is 16 and is 5'4, my parents are 5'4 and 5'7. Will I grow?

My ED didn’t start until I was in my mid-20’s, and then didn’t morph into anorexia (needing medical intervention) until I was 36 (I am 37 now)—how do you figure out a “restored/goal weight” at this age? Especially when I had a lot of different doctors before needing treatment, so my team doesn’t have access to my growth charts. They keep telling me that my weight might need to be higher than the estimated number, but I’ve been at different numbers now and remember how I felt (physically & emotionally) at all the different numbers, and I think their estimation is too high. I know the ED influences that idea, and I have also been at the various weights in a non-ED way. So, how do you know you’re at a recovered/restored weight when you’re an adult recovering from an ED?

Hey. I was like 13 and about 4 months when I started to restrict. I lost some weight and stayed there for about 6-7 months. Before that I think I was going through a growth spurt and should have grown around another 2 inches. I gained weight and restored in about 2-3 months. I worried that I won’t grow in height. I also lost my period. If I eat more and gain some weight could I catch up on growth and grow taller?

What if as a child you had an undiagnosed binging disorder. You over ate past the point of being full often and ate very unhealthy. However, you were never overweight so it wasn't a cause for concern, just heavier. So, you begin to eat intuitively and excersise and eat healthy (still eating enough) and you loose weight. What would doctors say then?

I was cut the overweight side when i was a child (percentile 85-86) but my weight gain naturally stopped at 16 years old , i stayed in the percentile 73. Before my ED, i actually stay in the percentile 20. Do you think i need gain weight to the 85 percentile or 73 is enough? (Sorry for my bad english)

Hello Celine, thank you for your comment. I did not want other readers to be 'triggered' by the numbers you gave, and I guess you didn't see my request for you to edit them out, so I'm afraid the only thing I could do was delete your comment. But I can still respond.
You have been through a lot of turmoil in these teen years, I am sorry. My advice? Get yourself great eating-disorder support, and usually this is best with super-well informed parents, who can help you every day with meals, kindness and weight gain, so you recover your health and freedom. You also need clinicians who are expert in eating disorders. So get your parents to my website, and let them help you.

Could you please tell me what year this graph was formed and what range of years (example: 1950-1990) this standard is based upon? Thank you!

I love the way you have presented this video 🥰 I am 39 and looking to lose weight so that I feel healthy again but I am finding that the standard approach of BMI, eat healthy, exercise more, look after my mental health is yielding erratic results. I would love to learn more about "healthy" weights for adults and if I can determine what mine should be. Could you provide insight or resources in this area? thanks in advance!

Hey. I am a 14 year old girl and in-between January and September 2021 i gained 10kg, this was mainly from eating lots and lots of food and high calorie foods, but I didn't care as I never thought about food and ate junk food when I wanted whenever I wanted - and I was quite sedentary. Then in September someone made a comment so I then began to eat less and try to loose weight. I lost 14kg in 6 months. I was around 3kg underweight. Now I need to recover. Do i need to regain the 18kg that I gained unhealthily and eating more then what I needed - or what do I need to gain?

Great information, thank you. If you are at the 40th percent growing up with normal eating habits, and then spike up at age 16 after getting menses to the 80th percent. Now in the 10thtile, is the target weight the 40th percentile as thats is where you were for the majority of your growth. Thanks!!

What if someone battled anorexia between 12YO and 16YO without too much gain?... If she starts gaining now to WR+, is there any hope for any more height growth spurs?

Hi Eva, thanks for the video. I suffered from an ED between the ages of 14-15 as a male during puberty. I didn’t grow at all during this period (sitting at 162cm), but started to eat more before 16 and grew to 164 by 17, then 169cm by 19. I’m now 21 and am sitting at around 170cm. Does this mean that my growth wasn’t stunted, or that it was potentially delayed due to my ED? I’m about an inch shorter than my father for context. Thanks so much!

I'm done growing and went through puberty early (I got my period just after i turned 10) but my doctors still think I should be around my 80th percentile weight wise despite being permanently below the 30th percentile for height.

For reference I've been recovered and eating with no restrictions at my 55th percentile, probably over 3000 calories a day (im 17, got my ED around 15 and haven't grown since I was 12)

Think i might just ignore them, im not getting another growth spurt and don't need a BMI of 27
