I love his dry, acerbic delivery. He makes drab lines sound funny.

Thanks for posting this and Part 2, Ednay. I think one of his funniest performances is in the Zasu Pitts film, "Sing and Like It", where he plays a smart, sarcastic gangster assistant to Nat Pendleton's dumb gangster bossman. He's constantly being asked to "translate" erudite dialogue into simple language his boss would understand.

THX! I only knew him from the Warner Bros. cartoons, like "The Coo-Coo Nut Grove" - they loved to have a parody of him in a lot of their cartoons :)

Yesterday I had the great privilege of seeing Imitation of Life. Three friends and I, we just howled every time Ned was in the scene!! It was a great movie as one pal already knew. For me it was like seeing Monty Python or SCTV for the first time!! Ned was just hilarious, I became instant fan! So I looked him up and was delighted to see he grew up 50 miles from me in Ontario. A great moment in my life anyhow!

I've always have felt that Walter Matthau copped his delivery from Ned Sparks.

I just love Ned Sparks!! I watched him again yesterday with May Robson and Warren William in ‘Lady for a Day’!! I’ll watch any film Ned is in, even the silent films he was in!! Thank you for posting this fantastic video!!

Ned Sparks was genuinely a stand out character in every movie he was in. My favorite movie is Golddiggers of 1933. I love the classic movies and classic actors, they had true talent and genuis.
