Top 5 Business Mistakes I Made (So You Don't!)

To learn as much as you can, and dont take no for an answer. I was so new and didnt know how to get the help I needed and everytime I asked I was always told no, and I took it as I wont ever succeed now a days I dont take No for an answer, I take it as a maybe. Woohoo!!
Also, I'd tell myself to stop caring what other think, and just go for it!

These are great tips. Not asking questions was a big one for us. Investing in yourself and your business it’s also a good one. If you are not confident in yourself and your business, you can’t expect others to be.

You have no idea how much I needed this video! As someone who started a business a year ago and after a month completely let it die because of others thoughts and my own self-doubt, only to re-start it a year later and be happier than ever with what I have an where I am!

I can totally relate to going to events and then not asking the questions. I used to do the same soo much even back in school. Like what if I ask something dumb? And I get made fun of? I’ve been able to get over that mindset challenge now but it is such a good piece of advice.

I wish I would have invested my time in photography/business classes 10 years ago. I used to take pictures and loved the process of editing and presenting my work to people, but the business side always brought my drive down and stopped me from becoming better and achieving the life I feel that was right for me. Now 10 years later I am dusting off my Camara and giving it another try. :)

Ha! I would tell her to forget her dreams, go to school and get a career in a guaranteed industry first.

I would say keep following your heart. You are not behind or missing out, nor have you made any "wrong" choices even if they didn't result in a material windfall immediately. You are paving the road to success, one experience at a time. Just keep going.

Not asking questions is huge!! I held back on asking questions in high school and college and I regretted that. I ask non stop questions now and don’t give a damn if someone doesn’t like them.

Great advice !!! I do what I think and feel is right, don't listen to people who aren't in your occupation... listen to only to those who have a proven track record !

Great question, looking back I would tell myself thank you for investing in yourself, but trust your skills and dont try to invent the wheel. Do what you love and what youre good at. Dream bigger, Pursue bigger, but dont be afraid, be intentional with your money, and you dont need 1k in shoes, invest it in your dream and instead invest it to build a great website to showcase you.

@jasmine Star, I have to tell you I teach a career transition class to a group 50ish marines each week who are transitioning out of the marine corps and we talk all about deciding who they want to be, how they want to use their gifts and to commit to going after their dreams. As an Ice breaker, I ask who is someone you admire and what do you admire about them? My example is, "I admire Jasmine Star and I admire how personable she is, how she uses her gifts in a way that feels right to her and always of service. Just wanted you to know, you're admired on Marine Corps bases!

I'd tell myself to just go with the flow and learn as much as possible. I'm still not totally understanding the business side of a photo/video business, but I'm learning more and more each day. While doing various jobs and such. Thank you for this video jasmine!

Jasmine, I've been following you for years and am a fellow entrepreneur. I began as a photographer and now built a marketing strategy consulting business. I feel so fulfilled on what I did mentally to take the big risks, I believed in myself, and I've pushed myself to be a CEO! But now, I'm also looking to redefine my definition of success. I live out my values and sometimes being the CEO of our biggest dreams and living out our vision isn't always being a business owner, doing it all by yourself. I'm happy that I'm beginning the process to now say "IT"S THE END" to my journey as an entrepreneur (FOR NOW!!!) and taking a new direction as a member of a team in a big organization. I'd say to anyone who is looking to start something new- just do it! If it doesn't work out as long as you want to (for me, it was just a 5-year plan to be a business owner), it's worth every bit of learning experience. if you don't do it, you will NEVER know what you are capable of!!!
