I'm 100% gonna be getting the A16 iPad for college now. It's currently $299, and I see no reason to pay more for the others when all I'll be doing is note-taking and light gaming. I'll be getting along with ESR's pen, screen protector, magnetic paper feel protector (can actually go on top of a normal protector!), and their magnetic case. All for like $400 total, which is a wild deal!

I am using iPad 10th gen with iPadOS26 and im loving it.

The new multitasking system in iPadOS 26, based on Stage Manager, is unintuitive and feels like a step backward for students. Previously, the split-screen setup was much more practical and faster , you could simply drag an app icon to the corner of the screen to activate Slide Over or Split View, with no extra steps.
Now, with the update, you’re forced to enable the Visual Organizer and manually resize and position apps. This takes time and disrupts the study flow. I tried downgrading to iPadOS 18.5, but it’s no longer possible.
As a student, I’ve lost productivity. The old Slide Over and Split View were simpler, faster, and much more efficient. This change doesn’t support those of us who rely on multitasking to study effectively.

You’ve made good points. Some people have been saying that Apple didn’t come out with the multitasking and other files features, over the years, as they didn’t want to take sales from MacBooks. But as we can see with them very surprisingly allowing the Mini and the entry level iPad to access all of these features, that it isn’t true.

I can imagine Apple rebranding the regular iPad to the iPade (education edition), and then the iPad Air to be the regular iPad, and then iPad Pro 11in to iPad AIR, and the iPad Pro 13 will just be the iPad Pro

I was stuck between the iPad Air and the base iPad, but iPadOS 26 is making me lean much more to the base, i just need it as a focused study device for university, and i think the base should do the job. It doesn’t have Apple integilence which does suck and worries me a bit about future proofing, but then again I have a MacBook that I use for full on work so it shouldn’t be a big issue

I think Apple is doing a great job for iPad even if it also lacks for Time Machine as iCloud is not a backup system. Also iCloud lacks for versioning that is a great lack respect other competitors.

Hmm i installed it and it was all bugs on an 11th gen so this review is misleading. Cover the pros and cons of an early BETA. All Apps had the visually pixelated glitch. Please be honest and show that it's buggy.

Will the new iOS 25 work on the mini that has Apple intelligent???? I knew a basic iPad, The screen is bigger than the... however, it doesn't have Apple intelligence.... so I just wonder if I get the brand new mini? I'll have Apple intelligence but I don't know how the multiple windows are going to work on the mini versus the cheapest iPad which will have a bigger screen but unfortunately not have Apple intelligence

IPadOS26 is a huge step in the right direction. BUT. The iPad PRO models are still not PRO enough. Were are the full fledged Logic Pro and Final Cut applications. They are still missing 75% of the Mac version’s functionality. I use Logic a lot, i wanted multiple floating, resizable plugin windows, full fledged synths with graphical elements. Maybe another 5 years, but we are slowly getting there. There WILL be an iPad soon that functions like a Mac. For sure. We will get there, and that will be the end of the Mac.

Best value iPad just got better. Wish there was an option to scale the interface down just a bit. The icons/apps seem a rad bit too big.

I just love the new update. It’s fucking great. I hope the liquid glass design gets expanded so that apps in general get the transparency kinda like the modern Star Trek transparent computer interfaces. I know Microsoft did something similar ages ago, but apple just did it better and can expand on that. But also the features. I have an iPad mini 6 and iPad 10th gen and it raised them to a whole new level.

Without overhyping cause there still some beta flaws and bugs - but it’s the best update in years.

And there's an incoming call to my iPhone, can i answer the call in my "Wifi Only" iPad? Especially if my Airpods are connected to an iPad since like i'm watching video maybe.? The iPad 11th gen full laptop style experience can be had for only $400 by getting the ESR floating style keyboard folio for $80, and a generic USB-C stylus for $20 that is functionally equivalent to the basic Apple Pencil. I am so glad they are bringing the new windowing system to the base model iPad. You are the ONLY creator who has even mentioned testing OS 26 on the base model, every other channel assumes people are content creators on the Pro, but the reality is the cheapest one is the lowest common denominator and the vast majority of users are on the base model, not even the Air.

Hearing that just makes me want to go straight for the developer beta however I’m installing the public beta. I have an iPad Air from 2020 and I honestly can’t wait to try out that new windowing system. I’ve been wanting that ever since I’ve heard about stage manager back in 2022 and the iPad Air from 2020 is just the right device to put it on.

What's important is not the visual aspect, like iPadOS looking like Mac or the Retina Glass UI, but that I must be able to use the applications I used on Mac.

This is a great upgrade to iPad OS. It was about time! However, if a person is looking for a laptop replacement, there are better options. If you must get Mac OS, Walmart sells the M1 MBA for $650.00. I just bought an open-box HP Onibook X Flip (2-in-1) from Best Buy with an Intel Core Ultra 5 with 16 GB of RAM and 512 SSD for $562.00 (in excellent condition). This laptop uses the MS pen protocol. However, if you are set on an iPad, then this makes more sense than any of the other iPads for casual use, especially if you use it with the ESR accessories.

Yeah I'm impressed by this new update coming, it will give the experience of a pro like feel to doing everyday tasks particularly on the new entry level A16, just amazing 👏

Need to see more detail about features and less about why the new iPad can now work for most everyone. Just watched your day old video on new features and found it more informative (thanks). Did they fix the browser or is the engine the same and all browsers use the safari code so no midi possible.

A MacOS iPad Pro is still the holy grail for me. I would happily pay a premium price for it (as if it wasn't already at a premium price). I purchased and used a 13" iPad Pro for one week. Used it at home, at work, on plane flights, and on vacation. In the end, I couldn't justify the cost and returned it. If I could have done everything for my 16" MacBook Pro on my iPad Pro, I would have kept it.
