Who was responsible for this devastating Hit and Run? | Forensic Investigators | #crimestories

Ian Fleming and his three children were off on their annual caravan camping trip on the evening of the 9th April 1998. All Ian can remember after the accident is the sensation of something happening that caused loss of vehicle control, and being desperately afraid for his children.
Unfortunately his worst fears came to pass, his son Nick aged 12 was killed in the accident. Luckily his other two children survived. Accident witnesses told Mr Fleming that it wasn't a car malfunction - he had actually been hit by a truck. Police eventually closed the Hume Highway scene 1 hour after the accident, reopening it 12 hours later.
Accident investigation crews scoured the area: collecting fragments and debris from the accident; taking photographs; measuring distances and angles; testing tyre friction; checking vehicle to show if rear lights were working on the caravan ; analysis breaking tyre skid marks - and noting weather conditions and environmental factors at the time of the accident.
