I aways thought they could have a made a separate movie about Jonnie Fontaine based on the book.
But I agree — the weirdest part of was the whole subplot about Lucy Mancini’s ladyparts.
that is not how it works geesh, women have babies, give it a break
ОтветитьThe more you learn the more ridiculous the film becomes.. to the point where I don't feel I'll ever watch it again... Vito deserved to die for not sharing his judges.. they are not his to keep, hense why the commission put out a hit on him. Michael's retaliation would of been met with instant death.. those are the rules of Omertà.. and everyone knew this.. but a German Irish consigliere. Now that's just absolutely ridiculously impossible.. for me this alone has to be the worst mafia movie mistake of all time.. its embarrassing
ОтветитьThis film is definitely a success.. 50 years on amd we are still trying to unravel the "truth" with none of us any wiser
ОтветитьWhy does Michael agree to the meeting at the funeral on Tessio's territory where he would be safe, when Don Vitto already had a safe meeting with all the NY Mafia Families? Why not have another meeting there again?
ОтветитьLucy and Jules, along with Fontane, are my favourite parts of the book. It actually feels hopeful and their relationship is genuine and loving, even if Jules is kinda condescending, but then almost every woman in the book is treated like a child, it's a bit weird.
ОтветитьAl Neri is also a monster in the book.
ОтветитьFredo wasn’t weak. He was an idiot.
ОтветитьI see. Since hollywood is antiwhite they didn't want the pedo to look like the bad guy or for the White organized family to look like the good guys.
ОтветитьBest book ever!
ОтветитьIn the book is a description of the Bocciccio brothers. They are the least believable characters, who are basically professional hostages. I doubt that anybody in Mafia history has ever offered himself to be a paid hostage.
ОтветитьBook was a pulp rag for money
ОтветитьThe movie cut the subplots re: Sonny's girlfriend and Johnny Fontaine, but other than that, the movie is REMARKABLY similar to the book. A movie simply cannot include everything contained in a novel, but if you compare the sections that are common to both the book and movie, it is quite clear that in "The Godfather," they are very, very similar.
Of course, you don't do yourself any favors when the splash photo puts Fredo's head on Arnold Schwarzenegger's body. Video should have been called "10 Huge Differences Between This Video and Reality," lol. This channel going on "Do Not Recommend Channel" list.
The only instance that I’m aware of were the movie is waaaaaaay better than the book
ОтветитьThat silly love story between Sonny’s Wistress and the abortion doctor who operated on her vagina to make her tighter so she could get pleasure from normal human men…
I didn’t mind it but it wasn’t that interesting
RE: Changes to Puzo's "The Godfather"; Personally, my pick for one of the most obvious changes is how the novel ends with Kay and Mama Corleone going to a chapel together for daily religious observances. Coppola arguably develops this idea in "The Godfather Part II" with Kay and Michael's separation and her abortion, but we the Audience don't get the benefit of seeing Kay as not being reliable because she can't or won't "Keep the Faith" as it were. Clearly, though, given Part III, Coppola could not ignore the religious cultural overtones of the title "Godfather" indefinitely.
ОтветитьMy own opinion here is that the books actually tell a coherent story, whereas the movies mostly just "depict some important scenes" from the books. The first time I ever saw the movie, I hadn't read the books yet, and I found the movie... not that great. It just wasn't "coherent." Later I read the books, and then when I watched the movie again it was fine, because I could fill in the gaps that were skipped over. I really see the movies as mostly "visual spectacles," where I get a chance to see those important scenes "brought to life."
ОтветитьOkay so I never read the book. But after hearing your #1 difference... guess I gotta.😊
ОтветитьGodfather trilogy could have been a web series with 12-15 episodes with 3-4 seasons. Godfather 3 should have focused on Michael Vs Tom and then Godfather on Sunny's son. But I can't imagine somebody else play Vito. Rhey should produce it in 22nd century for new audiences.
ОтветитьMario Puzo sure did his research about hollywood is seems...
ОтветитьI think the movie should emphasize more that Sonny was packing, like in the book.
ОтветитьThey definitely butchered Luca Brasi's character by not including that scene.
In the movie he comes off as a bit of a good natured idiot and not much of his darker side is shown.
But other than that the movies might have been overall better than the novel.
I'm fairness to puzzo and the top 20 example, there are a shit load more books than movies.
We've been working on literature for thousands of years. The guys is competing against fucking plato!
Ngl, book sounds like shit
ОтветитьThey should have made about 5 hours of book footage in this film even if they could only fit 3 hours into it !!!!
ОтветитьThe book is pornography from the sick mind of Mario Puzo.
ОтветитьLucy got loosey v
ОтветитьWhat do you know, a video that is worth watching. Thank you.
ОтветитьDoes Moe Green still talk to Barzini in the books?
ОтветитьIn the movie, the unholy massacre of Sonny at the tollbooth was not how the book described it.
Ответитьa movie can only show so much due to time. sonnys wife is miming the size of sonny at the wedding reception. so its in the movie.
Ответитьmany of al neri scenes were cut. i have to say it was a good thing, because the acting was not great
ОтветитьGotta tell ya I had no problem with what Al Neri did to get kicked off the force.
ОтветитьThe Producer/ little girl scene was removed for the same reason the mafia didn't want the movie made in the first place. How long did it take for u to come up with that alternative excuse? Yall are great at those.
ОтветитьIt's no secret to us the viewer that Calo is killed in the first Godfather movie.
We see Calo putting luggage in the trunk of Michael's car at the very instant Apollonia turns the key
and she, Calo, the luggage and the Alfa Romeo car are blown to smithereens.
Puzo was facinated with Sonny's jubookeven so much a woman had to be stitched up from Sonny boring her out.
ОтветитьTessio escaped and changed his name to Fish
ОтветитьIn the Godfather, Part2, there was a scene in Cuba where Batista explains to the gathering New Year's Eve party crowd that he would leave Cuba because his troops were getting whipped by Castro's people; having been 8 years old at the time of the revolution, i can tell you categorically that such a scene could never have happened since Batista relied on secrecy to effect his fleeing and besides he did not leave Cuba until the wee hours of the morning. Also the scene where the party crowd was running in panic to the boats parked at the marina could not happened as depicted because Cubans did not learn of Batista's flight until the morning of January 1st;all told Francis Ford Coppola took a number of cinematic liberties in telling the story.
ОтветитьHollywood is all.about DRAMATICS and having EXTREME-CHARACTERS.
They do this for the women and children to keep them entertained. I for one am tired of Hollywood movies, all of them so predictable.
I would have been ok with them making the movie closer to the book with an alcohol lic Johnny Fontaine, a more loyal Kate, a smarter Fredo that was also a sexualholoholic, a less evil Michael, etc. However, if they did that, then they will turm off the women an children.
The movie Godfather II made up the part about Hyman Roth and the execution of Fredo, but i liked these additions. Fredo plotting against Michael is very realistic, after all, he was passed over. I would have liked to see the book version Fredo in the movie (smarter and not a clutz).
I once found a French-language translation of the novel — "Le Parrain" — in a Montreal used bookstore.
ОтветитьMichael learns about Brasi´s scary past when he´s in Sicily. I still remember the moment when I read that part of the book. I was hungry at the moment and went to kitchen to heat up my dinner. The minute his name came up, I knew I was finally going to find out the details so I stopped reading immediately. It only took a minute or two to prepare my dinner and I pretty much ran with my plate back to my room, but it seemed never-ending... great book.
ОтветитьI thought the biggest difference BY FAR was Fredo. In the book, Fredo was not seen as a wimp (it was actually Michael who was seen as "the family sissy") Fredo was actually a second Sunny. What broke Fredo, was that he Idolized his father the Don, so much so that he fell into a deep funk after he was shot. Fredo was an excellent soldier, but a bad leader. Sonny was a capable leader during the war, but ultimately, too hot-headed.
ОтветитьAll movies usually are . That's nothing new.
ОтветитьAnyone reads the book after the film, tyou are obviously going to have the film actors in your head. Different if you read it in 1969
ОтветитьAlso In the books Micheal doesn’t kill the heads of the five families only Bazini and Tellaigla ( spelled it wrong) he doesn’t go after the other two
ОтветитьImagine thinking The Godfather isn’t a top 20 book 😂 anyone who actually thinks that just never read it… simple.
ОтветитьSonny NEVER impregnated Lucy in the book.
ОтветитьMy only question what happened to sonnys kids after his death
Ответить
