27 year old from Mississippi but currently residing in Texas. I literally learned to cook by watching AB since I was about 23 years old. My husband loves to cook too and used AB’s 2024 recipe for the peas this year. 2026 will be my turn to cook for the New Year and I’m going to surprise him by doing it this way bc he LOVES collards and AB’s original black eyed peas recipe. Soooo, 363 more days left before we try this delicious recipe 😭😂 THANK YOU AB!
ОтветитьI am going to try this recipe ❤🧑🏾🍳 I don’t eat greens but but most ppl do
ОтветитьMade it and yes it was simple💪🏽💪🏽💪🏽
ОтветитьI’m from Illinois 50 years old, but mom’s from Mississippi…. I like the stems in minds….. I’m making this Sunday!!!
ОтветитьHow did you get your turkey broth so creamy looking? I simmered mine for several hours and it never looked like that. Turned out delicious anyways. Happy New Year!
ОтветитьAfree seeing this video, i made this recipe the next day. It came out so good! Between prepping the collards, cooking the turkey leg, and then doing the main cook it took a bit of time, but that added to how much fun this dish was to make. I used my grandmother's dutch oven, so that made the process even more enjoyable - it was like being in her kitchen again. What great memories!
ОтветитьThanks!
ОтветитьWhen I finally have a home and kitchen, will make this first. Looks so delicious. Happy new year to you. Hope this year is a better one.
ОтветитьI am not accustomed to black eye beans ,can I use chick peas?
ОтветитьAB, this is one of the most delicious things that I've cooked. I used beef stew meat instead of smoked turkey. I used the broth from the meat and some extra sodium free beef broth. Cajun seasoning, etc. I had to stop myself from going back for thirds. 😆😆👀
ОтветитьHappy new year 🎉
ОтветитьMade this recipe along with your baked honey mustard chicken thighs on New Year’s Day! Man this was a hit with the family and friends! And of course I had cornbread as well! Thanks AB for supplying us with great flavorful recipes! May God grant you and your family much success and happiness this year!
ОтветитьMade this and had it ready for New Year’s Day. My girlfriend doesn’t really like black eyed peas but she loved this!
I took the turkey off the bone and added it to the pot too early 🤦🏽♂️ but I added the bones back to the pot during the simmering. So much flavor and everything was perfect. Thank you for sharing this recipe and happy new year!
I tried this recipe tonight and it is 🔥! Definitely a big hit! Thanks for sharing! Game changer!
ОтветитьMmmmm!!!!!
ОтветитьMan that’s looks delicious. I’m gonna make this. I add red pepper flakes to my greens gives it a little kick but not to much
ОтветитьLove the idea of greens in the black eyed peas. We added a half bag of frozen kale to our pot, based on your video. Next year, we can try your recipe. The gumbo greens I made last year. Hubby was 🤤 love these integrations. Also excited for the BBQ chicken salad. Very inspiring channel! 🙏🏾🫶🏾
ОтветитьJust made this on New Year's Day hoping for a small change from the norm.. It was DELICIOUS. I absolutely loved it!
Thank you A.B.
I didn't have an opportunity to get my collards in the past couple of weeks or smoked turkey wings. Plus when I happened to just stop by the one spot that usually has the smoked wings, they were always out. I was out of town for a week and a half and came back on the 31st early enough to hit some stores. I hit 4 or 5 and not one had smoked wings or collards. So a massive bust. I had to use two ham hocks for the peas. Not my first choice but 🤷🏾♂️. Funny thing is there was no shortage of Kale 😖. If Collards are outselling Kale this time of year, double or triple up on the stock. But at least I have the black eyed peas. The holidays were rough with a death in the family so some luck will be appreciated.
ОтветитьI just made this for my family today and OMG! It was absolutely delicious! We could not get enough! 👏🏽👏🏽😋
ОтветитьPlain corn bread with butter and grape jelly!
ОтветитьJust made today for new year's 🔥🔥💯 I was trying to attach a picture of mine but it wouldn't let me
ОтветитьOk....tried this recipe and it was AWESOME. Thanks again for a other banger AB! It took a bit longer to get the black eyed peas soft (about 3 hrs cooking) but was fine. And yes, I soaked them overnight. I and my folks are from Mississippi and can't wait for them to try it tomorrow.
Ответить❤❤❤ I tried this recipe today. It was a grand slam hit! It was my first time cooking peas together with the collards and using the creole seasoning. It was delicious beyond words. This meal has always been a favorite of mine and this way of cooking it took it up a notch or two. My husband said it was FIRE! Thanks AB and Happy New Year!
ОтветитьThis recipe is great, and I hate BEPs. Thanks AB for a great dish.
ОтветитьWhat's wrong with using vegetable broyh/stock
ОтветитьSalute to Smokin & Grillin with AB 💪🏾 looks delicious Bro HNY 🍾
ОтветитьI'm making this today...I got lucky all items were at the store. ❤ thanks AB!!!
ОтветитьI don’t know what to say my eyes are bigger then my stomach right now 😂😂😂😂
ОтветитьMy husband loves this recipe. The first time, I cooked blackeye peas together with greens. You are right, hummy, good eating. Thanks❤
ОтветитьCan’t wait to try! lol is awesome!! Thanks for sharing
ОтветитьHappy New Year! 🎉🎉🎉
ОтветитьI'm from New Jerse
ОтветитьI love the stems!!
ОтветитьMixing the collars and adding the turkey leg is definitely a "level-up" move! We also put it over white rice.
Blackeye peas and collard greens on New Year's Day symbolizes; prosperity in the new year (peas = coils, greens = dollars)!
Being from Charleston, this has always been a staple in my house for New Years. This recipe was by far the easiest to follow as well as the tastiest!!!! 🎉 Thank you!
ОтветитьHappy blessed New Year 2025! Always a hit in the kitchen.
ОтветитьI’m making a pot like this and a vegan pot of beans!! My house is smelling oh so good. This is gonna hit with glazed carrots, polenta, and ribeye steaks for my carnivores!!!
ОтветитьMaking your recipe as we speak. I can’t wait to taste it. Thanks for this awesome recipe. I have never made this before 👍🏻😎
ОтветитьI’m from Mississippi and I just went and got all my ingredients I’m ready . I was already doing black eyed peas and greens but never ever thought to combine them. I will let y’all know how mines turn out. Happy New Year’s to all and may this day and year be full of love peace Joy and abundance. And prayers to the less fortunate.
ОтветитьI made this for NYE. It was delicious! Thanks AB
ОтветитьThis came out BOMB!! Just like all your other recipes!!
ОтветитьAll of my family including my mom is from Charleston SC. I'm from Philadelphia born & raised but raised on southern cooking. New Years we make Hoppin John traditionally with pork. My black eyed peas are being cooked with ham hocks. Also, I added curry powder to my black eyed peas.
ОтветитьDo you recommend using mustard greens as a substitute?
ОтветитьOmg. The picture sent me. 😛
ОтветитьI think cooking some stems is good but not those big tough ones
ОтветитьWatched this video Dec. 31st. Today is New Year's Day. I am cooking my greens & blackeye peas your way for the first time. My kitchen smells divine! Cornbread being made shortly. Thank you for this amazing recipe. I am a deep south kind of girl.
ОтветитьWhat time is dinner? 🎉😂
ОтветитьLook delicious
