when l played mindustry I used single line manifolds a lot

Maybe combining the two would work:
Have a two-layer load balancer, with the second layer being manifolds

Oh... So thats called a manifold.

I have been using that system to feed ammo on turrets in mindustry for ages. Its defitnely better when the consumption is off for a little bit.

Mindustry has "underflow gates" which push materials out the side(s) unless the sides are full, only allowing materials forward when the sides are full.

guys look at this. all this wasted space. u already have splitters lined up already close to constructors. just make it in 1 line. so its an overflow system. takes not even this amount of space. can be configured in any shape u want. this is so useless.

I use smart splitters in a manifold, straight is on the item and overflow on the machine side so the end fills up first

In factorio you can use circuits to calculate the average of the entire setup and then activate the insertion only if the storage is less or equal than the average. Meaning you'll distribute everything evenly. If you manually add more to the first storage, it will not insert anymore until all the others have the same amount. Pretty neat.

In the second case, keep the 12 constructors offline and fill the ingots all in filled up to 100. Now turn the electricity on for all at once. This should give all the belts enough time to be saturated with no ramping up issues.

You can also do a center manifold into two rows, or split into multiple manifolds with a balancer.

best tip: hook the machines to powerlines ASAP/when you place them down…. if it took your 1 hour to build the whole factory, thats 1 hour of resources smelted and overloaded for the next step.

I just pre-load all the machines and get the conveyor full before starting it.
Since i like to do errands and expand inventory as fast as i can, pre-loading machines is a no brainer.

Tis super noob did a manifold for coal power plant, I just hand mined some stacks of coal and then filled the plants hmn, hardly worth it for other stuff, but i think for power stuff its okay as ya do the work only once.

I haven't played, but I imagine a hybrid LB/Manifold setup. Feed 2 ends of the manifold with the 2 way LB. When the manifold overflows, redirect excess back to the 2 way LB.

I LOVE load balancing but they are definitely the reason I always burn out in the latter half of the midgame. I should try just turning my brain off for a little bit and just using manifolds and maybe ill actually finish the game before starting up a new factory again, haha

To skip the spin up time in the earlier stages of the game where you may only have 10 or so producers. You can pre craft enough ingots to overflow them then manually place them in each

It took me a little while to find what they were called, but they call them belt balancers.

I use manifold method, but usually have a stockpile of resources, as I start with putting a storage bin right by a node instead of immediately using it, So when I build that resource, I have a lot ready and can manually fill each machine with the needed resource.

I'm currently rebuilding my factory to have towers over my resource nodes with a smelting floor above them. Think I'll try to combine manifold with load balancing. Perhaps have multiple inputs into the line. I like the notion of using verticality to achieve a smaller footprint and still optimize productivity.

I prefer a mix of manifold and balance. Example: 3 machines need 270 (tier 3 belt). So the main line is faster, and you need an intelligent splitter, with the priority to those 3 machines, the main line fast enough for every part that will go through.
Finaly use one splitter fpr those 3 machines, perfect balanced.
