The day when the west stops appeasing Israel and respects the "international laws" which appearntly works only against their enemies (an Iraqi here), that is the day when we will have peace in the middle east, the immoral and brutal occupation of the Palestinian lands by Israel which is fully backed by the west HAS to stop, the rules has to play on EVERYONE, only then would we have peace.

Israel has set themselves up for generations of more pain as a result of what they have done in response to Oct. 7th. This was not a smart way to go. Pay back is going to be a bitch. Karma is a real thing. It means cause and effect.

The entire notion of carving out a country from someone else's ancestral lands, where jews and palestinians have been cohabiting for millennia, was also a profoundly stupid idea.

it's too far gone: the USA & UK will do pretty much anything for Israel and will happily cover anything they do. It's not necessarily the power of Israel more the inherent weakness of the West.

Sorry, but sighing and saying 'we get criticism from both sides when we talk about Israel and Gaza' doesn't reflect the strength and accuracy of your commentary. Real balance means to point out the facts. Hamas and others killed 1200 people on October 7th. Israel has killed at least 100,000 Gazans since then. It is not balance to say 'both sides have suffered' any more than it would be balance to say both sides have suffered in Russia's war with Ukraine. As Rory briefly mentioned, there are no red lines for Israel. They have attacked NATO soldiers. They have killed 100,000 Gazans. They are preparing to annex most or all of Gaza and are currently bombing or attacking three or four separate states. Your commentary needs to reflect this fundamental imbalance. Sighing and saying 'it's complicated' or 'we get criticism from both sides' is to bury one's head in the sand and say nothing of value.

To compare any support Israels pending invasion of Lebanon and the Russian invasion of Ukraine as some sort of rules based system hypocrisy, is just nonsense, after all...Ukraine was not sending missiles into Russia prior to Russia's invasion, nor was there a militant group in Ukraine that wanted to see all Russians dead, and Russia destroyed. Constant equivocation on this show that gets in the way of teasing out the core problem in that region = Islam Jihad and its aims not just in that region but world wide. The constant comparison with the North of Ireland is just naive, I know Campbell had a part in the GFA, but if he did this... all the while thinking that all Catholic Nationalists wanted to kill all loyalists he is very much mistaken. ( for this is how extreme the analogy would have to be, to be on par with how, that not just Palestinians, but all Arabs in the region feel about the Israelis and its Jews). Now for all protestant Loyalists wanting to kill all Catholics, I cant say, but I doubt it, even though they have religious values sincerely held .. reason - because they belong to Christianity and therefore they have been through the enlightenment they are persuadable out of their views.

When it's clear the Israelis have been killing, murdering, maiming, destroying the countries all around it. The Israelis can be stopped immediately as long as you, the western elites stop immediately the flow of money and arms.? The Israelis are like a mad dog unleashed at the moment.

Here are two key questions I would love you guys to cover. They are both screaming to be developed.
1] Who is the new Alastair Campbell in Labour HQ/Downing St? Whoever they are they are doing an appalling job. Labour's interfaxcing with the public is pretty much 100% disaster. Compare this with the Blair Honeymoon?
2] Trump has been saying "I will respect the results of this [USA: 2204] election if they are fair". It's patently obvious that Labour and consequently the UK are now cannon fodder for Trump, to wield around like his rag doll. We know that Trump is a vexatious litigant and that by the time Trump characterises the narrative, the truth will be hyper-distorted. Starmer's "they were in the spare time" argument, leaks like a sieve. All that needs to happen is to find one person out of 100 so far claimed, to have sent an email about the matter whilst at work and eating a sandwich. If Trump wins the election he will be recklessly vengeful and the UK will be in his sights now. It really does not matter what can be salvaged diplomatically from this mess, as Trump will only listen to his own voice and if his coffee is not to his liking, he can rage about and through any topic. This week he talked of jailing Pelosi and Adam Schiff.
I do hope you cover these things as we need intelligent analysis. Thank you for your channel.

Excellent conversation about Israel. You often come back to how the unconditioned support for Israel is threatening the rules backed world order. Among the areas being affected by the breach of this order by the current Israeli government and the support by the US and Britain, you regularly mention China and Taiwan. As far as I know, both the US and the UK formally subscribe to the One-China policy. Is the "One Country, Two Systems" policy a concept of international law comparable to say the integrity of existing borders between states? Is it not a "mere" political understanding? I am afraid that the Western democracies sold out Taiwan the moment they subscribed to the One China doctrine. They might have thought, "What's the big deal, Taiwan is also run dictatorially, what the heck?" I am not aware that the UK was raising hell for China violating the agreement on Hongkong. There, the democracy forces were sold out to the PCC, nobody really invoking a violation od the ruled based world order. Is there anything else to be expected on Taiwan?

I get annoyed when people talk about 'The trade unions' like they aren't simply working people trying to look after themselves. It builds into the narrative about trade union barons. Also, when Rory is nervous and not sure what to say, you'll notice the hair gets played with, like a girl who has a crush and doesn't want to say the wrong thing to the person who makes their heart flutter.

In the contemporary context of the Gaza war, if Rory and Campbell are being criticised by both sides of the conflict, by any judgement they must be both broadly neutral and impartial.

Credit for that.
