So sad. I didn't know he was ill. What a scary presence at the bat! I LOVE those late 70's Pirates unis!
ОтветитьI remember being a Pirates fan in 79 before it was popular to be a Pirates fan, and my favorite player? The awesome Dave Parker. They also released my favorite movie in 1979, Alien. And my favorite character in that movie and the one I hoped would survive? Parker. Just because I loved Dave Parker. Keep swinging, Dave!!!
ОтветитьLate 70s early 80s Pittsburgh Pirate uniforms, best in baseball and possibly sports history.
ОтветитьIf Andre Dawson, Jim Rice, Harold Baines, and Craig Biggio got in then Dave Parker certaintly deserves a nod in the HOF. The man was a machine at the plate with power and could hit for average. Also a great defender with a cannon of an arm.
ОтветитьHOF!
ОтветитьThat 79 Pirates team with Pops, Incredible.
ОтветитьHOF , put this man in the Hall, stop the bulls......., it is 5 tool player. Do it before he dies.
ОтветитьReal hot dog, best player in 1970 1980
ОтветитьSo sad, did anybody played better than Parker? HOF it is better player than half of the players in the hall.
ОтветитьThere were very few players that compared with Dave Parker.
ОтветитьLove the Cobra. He’s in MY HOF
ОтветитьHOF now or never. He is better than any mlb player today. Justice is due.
ОтветитьMy favorite player growing up. Saw him play several times.
ОтветитьWatched this documentary on MLB channel recently. Parker should be in the HOF because of his achievements, but also for the best home run trot in baseball history.
ОтветитьI was 13 in 1978 and Jim Rice and Dave Parker were my baseball stars. Loved the Cobra and that 79 Pirates team.
ОтветитьHe deserves The Hall of Fame!
ОтветитьI was a big Parker fan - he could do it all. He's a border line HOFer and wouldn't have a problem if he got voted in. Wish they didn't mix in the racial stuff here as I don't recall that being a factor.

ОтветитьJust seeing this for the first time...HEARTBREAKING.
ОтветитьMy childhood hero...
got to meet him about 5 years ago. Makes me cry
Damn "...I hate to see him like that..he was so damn good...
ОтветитьReading his book right now and loving all of the stories in detail.
ОтветитьThe Cobra is my all-time favorite ball player. I wore number 39 in Little League because of Dave Parker. I still don’t understand how he’s not enshrined in Cooperstown!
ОтветитьOne of the greatest ball players I've ever seen and he had that swagger like no other...! Loved watching him play and I'm a White Sox fan...! Greatest arm in right field, EVER...! In his prime, nobody better than the "COBRA" #39...! Definitely a Hall of Famer... YES!
ОтветитьOne of the best rightfielders in baseball history 👏
ОтветитьThat's why he belongs in the Hall of Fame !
ОтветитьThe best!
ОтветитьI remember his throws. Man, could he throw.
ОтветитьLOVE THE COBRA Thanks Dave LETS GO BUCS
ОтветитьIs there anyway to watch this from start to finish?
ОтветитьLOL at fake racism. Hundreds of blacks making tons of money but Dave Parker had a target because he was black making lots of money? LOL.
ОтветитьWOW , the Cobra use to torch our Phillies back in the day. Hope he’s inducted into the Hall of Fame soon !
ОтветитьMLB All-Star Game MVP & World Series Champion in 1979 when I was 10 years old! Golden memories! When superstars were superstars (Jackson, Garvey, Rose, Morgan, Rice, Lynn, Brett, Schmidt, Carew, Ryan, Seaver). And Dave Parker was the crown jewel!
ОтветитьWhere can anyone find the full documentary? I watched about a year ago and now it's no where to be found.
ОтветитьI personally witnessed an incident involving Parker that should keep him out of the Hall of Fame. The Pirates are aware of it and did damage control at the time. Others have done worse but not by much.
ОтветитьI really don’t think those that resented his lack of humility would’ve felt any differently had he been white. That never occurred to me. I think Bryce Harper lacks humility, don’t particularly like him, but I feel the same way about Tim Anderson, felt the same way about Jim Leyritz. And in the case of the latter, they’re not even good enough to have that sense of being great, whereas the above-mentioned players were/are stars.
ОтветитьWhat’s more the Cobra was a great teammate.
ОтветитьGod bless the Cobra, never will be forgotten
ОтветитьIt’s a crime he isn’t in the HOF. There holding the 1985 coke trial against him.
ОтветитьI despised Parker after he killed my Orioles in 1979. This state, however, is saddening. It is only a game when real life applies, and seeing Dave so frail is difficult. Mother Nature & Father Time are real m****r f*****s....
Ответить1,493 RBI + 11 RBI postseason = HOF.
Ответитьhe was great !!!!! one of the best, an easy personality it is an honor to have see him play, and i agree he should be in the Hall of Fame !!!!
ОтветитьShould be in hall of fame!!!!
ОтветитьHoF for sure. Hate seeing him broken down like that.
ОтветитьHe belongs in the HALL!!!!
ОтветитьHe’s finally in the HOF! Congratulations Mr. Cobra!!!
ОтветитьThank God, they finally elected The Cobra to the Hall of Fame.
ОтветитьThe Cobra!!!!!!! Loved the all black uniform combo of that great 79 team
ОтветитьThe Cobra forever.
ОтветитьGod bless you Dave. I hope and pray to meet you in heaven and because of Jesus Christ, it is possible! As a lifelong Pirates fan, you had the best looking uniforms of all time. Very rare to see three Pirate uniform combinations in this great video: 1. The yellow top, black cap and striped white pants, 2. The black top, black pants (very rarely seen and used combo) with yellow cap, and 3. the white striped top, yellow pants with the black cap. None of these uniform combinations were seen in the great 1979 World Series.
