Starfield Steam Deck FIrst Impressions and initial Settings

Waiting for the release but I'm Preloading it I wasn't going to get it until I get a different pc handheld that could run it better but changed my mind so I can play it on the 5th knowing it works on deck

To be honest, calling "perfectly playable" a game that can drop below 20fps in the lowest settings feels a bit disingenuous. Also, did you check the rest of the game? How do we now we aren't getting even lower perfomance in later stages of the game like it happened with TLOU and Baldurs Gate 3?

I know this things are subjective and it probably will get better in due time, but come on, are we not setting the bar a bit too low?

Insanely horrible game, boring, characters are dead again. The colors suck. Looks like a ps3 game. Whoever pays 100€ for this, i apologize.

QoL patches will stabilize the framerate in major cities, and FSR3 will help some too. I figure by the beginning of 2024 we should have a pretty smooth experience. Probably why Todd said that is a conversation for down the road.

I wasn't expecting my Steam Deck to even handle this at all. I'm impressed really. Even still despite some issues part of what I use my deck for is light gaming duties at work grinding resources in things like No Man's Sky or Elite Dangerous lol.

I don’t know why everyone is shocked that this runs on the Deck considering how dated the game looks; now, I don’t really care about graphics so I’m interested in this but this is hardly “next gen” and more “previous gen”

Vasco jogs at 10 fps no matter what the frame rate, if you keep him with you it will feel like you’re going 60 fps

Chill with the coping my dudes. FSR3 is not intended for that, and it WILL make the internal performance even worse, this will be an unresponsive mess going from 15 to 30 with fsr 3 at best. Have you guys tried to even use a menu at 15 fps? It's honestly so much input lag, it feels like relaying information to your friend who is actually holding the controller for every input.

Are people really excited about 24 FPS? What a joke. You have to accept that Steam Deck is not a machine to run all the latest AAA games. It is a powerful device but let's be serious.

Tbh even without updates, I'm sure there are going to be mods that improve performance, like there have been for fallout 4.

Is FS2 setting it to 50% balance mode? If yes, will setting this to 75% sharpness on fs2 performance mode?

It’s not great on the deck but tbf that was expected I think I would still play it like this obviously the cities are not great performance

I think 30fps is totally fine on steam deck. Feels like old days gaming.. also on xbox series x its also running with 30fps but ofc with much better graphics.
