Marathon Will Cost $40 (My Thoughts)

difference between Hero and Class:

Hero; has a set character name, fixed kit, fixed abilities. think Overwatch characters. Widowmaker is a sniper that has no flexibility in her weapon choice or skills

Class; has a job title, some flexibility in its kit or abilities so in a shooter sense, think Team Fortress 2. The Sniper in that has multiple primary and secondary weapons to choose from.

Bungie no longer gets any love or money from me.

Concord sequel?

This is just Gambit with extra steps.

It’s hard to pay $40 for this unless it’s really good. Tarkov already has a chokehold on the market and it’s only $50. I get it’s a twist of tarkov but it’s hard to even try something different when tarkov is actually a better game compared to every extraction shooter.

Make it join Concord

For all of the issues with Destiny as a game the shooting & ability use remains one of the best in the industry. As long as they can keep that feeling while diving into a new genre I think they'll do fine. But it certainly could be another Concord given an over saturated and established market.

Dark and darker is free

Sounds fun. But they need to have pve objectives with pve enemies during a match like bounties that reward loot. Eliminate elite, jumping puzzle, capture an area, etc. some of the combat bounties can even give you combat bonuses or allies to help when someone tries to third party your group. There should also be 2 modes - 1) where everyone starts fresh and 2) you can bring in a load out or handful of gear extracted from previous match.

It's not that I WANT Marathon to fail, but the way Bungie has gone about diverting resources to its development means that it MUST fail, lest it set a concerning new precedent.
The major controversy surrounding Marathon is that Bungie has begun to neglect Destiny in favor of this new project, even adding features that were long-requested for Destiny PvP. If Marathon is a hit, it will signal to the industry that you can simply abandon your old playerbase as you feed a new shiny cash cow project, assuming that your customers will put up with the neglect. Marathon failing will show them this is unacceptable.
I have no ill will towards the developers making the game, but unfortunately the sins of those actually making decisions over at Bungie mean that their project must be made an example of on the public stage.

40$ for the game, 20$ for season pass, 30$-50$ for cheat provider subscroption and you will "enjoy" the game and feel "mighty".
If they protect the game against cheaters like they protect Destiny 2 then it's dead on arrival....

But this game will be a live survice how can it cost 40€ at the start

Big difference Cross, hero shooters are less rp, you can role play better when you have your character with a specific class you chose, like destiny

Just seeing the title about the $40 made me laugh.

Making marathon a f2p extraction shooter with actually decent mechanics is how they can prevent it from falling flat. If there IS a price tag the game is going to have to be absolutely stellar. EFT players already love their EFT. Who else are they going to market to? Literally no one. If it's f2p random players who aren't already caught up in the extraction genre will actually try it.

I know this is dorky but I just have to say I absolutely love the aesthetics and graphic design in this game even the website is so cool so far but unfortunately cool graphics probably won't carry the game.. cool graphics AND scantily clad girls MIGHT though.

They are selling merchandise and they haven't shown gameplay yet.

If your character has abilities and your game is first person and it's pvp that's a hero shooter.

If marathon doesn't have substantial long term progression systems it's going to die.

Design on the game is amazing, but extraction shooters are too repetitives, I think it should be a more comprehensive PvP FPS with teams deathmatch, BR and stuff. Doing another PvE shooter having Destiny is kind of a bad move.

You're out of your muppet ass mind if you think it's going to be $40. Willing to bet $60 with Parsons stating in an on-launch interview they chose not to go with the current industry standard of $70 to "give back" to their fans/community.

Don’t forget guys New World coming to console. Definitely worth more than marathon. I have around 2000 hours on pc I recommend it.

One thing that people usually overlook during the free to play vs pay to play discussions, it the Xbox Live Gold or PlayStation Plus are not required for free to play games, but it’s required for paid games. (I don’t know why people still defend these scams.)

I'm not excited for Marathon (I don't play extraction shooters) but I don't want Bungie to fail. I'd love for Bungie leadership to fail but not the average folk working there

any Destiny player that is upset with not having D3 should NOT buy this.
