IoT-Based Automatic Late Comer Scanning System
Using ESP8266, CH376S USB Host Module, and Barcode Scanner

1. Introduction
The "IoT-Based Automatic Late Comer Scanning System" is designed to track and record the arrival times of students in educational institutions. The system uses ID card barcode scanning to identify students who arrive late, logging their data into a central MySQL database. Fines or penalties can be imposed for tardiness, and the information is made accessible via a student login portal.

2. Objectives
- To automate the process of identifying late students.
- To scan ID cards using a barcode scanner and USB host module.
- To interface with a MySQL database using the ESP8266 Wi-Fi module.
- To provide real-time tracking and reporting of student attendance.

3. System Overview
The system comprises the following components:
1. ESP8266 Wi-Fi Module: Acts as the communication bridge between the barcode scanner and the MySQL database.
2. CH376S USB Host Module: Allows the connection of the barcode scanner to the ESP8266.
3. Barcode Scanner: Scans the barcode on the student’s ID card, identifying the student.
4. MySQL Database: Stores student attendance records, accessible by administrators via a web-based portal.

3.1 Workflow
- Each student is assigned a unique barcode on their ID card.
- Upon entering the institution, the student scans their card using the barcode scanner.
- The system checks the current time and compares it with the defined start time of the class or session.
- If the student is late, the system logs the information in the MySQL database and tags the student as late.
- Late fines are calculated and displayed in the student login portal.
