Design and Technology education in schools is critical to the UK’s future success

If we are to preserve D&T as a subject in school, and our world lead, for the benefit of future generations of young people immediate and co-ordinated action is required by Government, employers in design and technology-related industries and the D&T Community itself.

What are the issues?

There is a shortage of qualified teachers; government accountability measures prioritise other subjects; teachers cannot access CPD; and GCSE numbers are declining.

What must happen?

Government, Awarding Organisations, Ofqual, employers, the D&T community and the D&T Association all have roles to play. What are they?
