Boston Celtics' amazing 24 point comeback vs Lakers (2008 NBA Finals Game 4)

Boston Sports fans I swear are blessed with comebacks in bigtime moments.

2002 Celtics comeback against Nets in the 4th quarter to win the game in conference finals.

2004 Red Sox playoffs comeback down 0-3 against the yankees to break the curse of the bambino.

2008 Comeback against Lakers.

2015 Patriots comeback in the Superbowl.

There has to be something about Boston that brings out the best in its players when they're down.

Kobe was really trying to get his team involved, but they just gave in to the Celtics. He was looking for the pass early, especially to Gasol and Odom. He shot his first field goal in the 2nd quarter. This Lakers team was actually the best of the Kobe-Gasol era. Their offense was high octane, and they would run most teams out of the gym. They even had the “bench mob” with Sasha Vujacic, Farmar, Shannon Brown, Maurice Evans, Trevor Ariza etc. They just didn’t have that mental toughness. They really gave the Celtics this one. I thought they were good enough to win.

As a die hard Lakers millennial fan, this was the hardest most heartbreaking game to ever watch. It took me 15 years to watch the highlights of this game, I now have to share my thoughts.

After Kobe’s death, getting older, and appreciating the legends like Pau, KG, Pierce and Odom I can now put my sports feelings aside and just appreciate the grit and toughness the Celtics brought during this game.

Posey was the prototype 3&D guy and really spurred back the Celtics. This was also the first game I’ve ever seen where Phil had no answer. Just a masterclass defensive performance by the Cs.

Of course it doesn’t hurt that I watched game 7 2010 highlights right before this.😂

I loved this era of basketball, it was the perfect mix of the slow pace era and the run and gun positionless basketball now. Thank god we got them back in 2010, that makes it hurt just a little less!!!

What great finals that was. As a long time Celtics fan, I finally got to witness us winning a championship. After struggling in 90s and the early 2000s. I was so happy for Pierce, KG, and Ray to finally won a ring. We have lots depth pieces too. My guys Eddie House and James Posey were killers in that series. Powe had that great game 2. Plus the leadership of Cassell, Tony Allen and PJ Brown.

These two teams could've had two more NBA Finals showdowns in thia Century in 2002 and 2023 to go along with memorable series in 2008 and 2010.

Whenever I see this series all I can think of is “Paul Pierce took a 💩 “

This was so frustrating as a Laker fan. Then later in the series I feel like the Lakers failed to finish a big comeback. Weird series.

I remember Pierce being unstoppable in the 3rd but Posey was huge for Boston in this game. Sasha then getting smoked by Ray at the end. Def the turning point of the series
