The mt15 is an amazing amp, I love mine. But the QC hate just feels wrong to me
ОтветитьLove your channel bro, but I respectfully disagree with the QC and the Orange arguement.
Im looking to buy one at the moment so I can chuck all my plugins on there and run it with my Orange Dual Baby. It will be a one stop lightweight rig.
As for the orange lunch box thing, i kind of see where youre coming from. The Rocker Terror/Tiny Terror wouldnt be a good choice for an Orange but the OR15 or the Dark Terror are bother very good choices for a high gain metal amp with a more british flavour. The EVH 5150 LBX is also a good choice along with the PRS MT15 for the more american flavour.
The hate in modelling is unreal , the line6 Helix for example still gets updated and gets me great tones for Panters Cover gigs etc and is a all in 1 solution with all built in pedals
ОтветитьAXE FX III cost twice a QC .... and you say it's very expensive ? dude for the price it's better than other modlers in same price range and many metal players (i mean pro musicians) does use it ... anyway even if for the rest i quite agree with what you say, I don't about QC and not because i like mine but just beacause of you saying it's expensive and then say that it would be better to buy an axe FX III that litterally cost 2-3 times the price (with the controller ...) ok it has more controls but hey man ! you want to play or you just want to waste time tweaking stuff, with QC you have straight tone and fairly good one tbh with a lot of features ... so i think your position is a little biaised sry
ОтветитьFavourite metal amp right now? Revv G20, all tube, lunchbox format, plenty gain on tap, takes pedals lika a champ, midi, and built in two notes.
How many sounds do you use as a metal guitarist? Clean, rythm, solo, and some effects that you place in the loop.
All these quad cortexes, Axe FX, Kemper, Headrush... All sound ok, but still, imo they're more about sound quantity.
And it still feels like bringing a studio generated sound into a live situation always falls short somehow.
Like digital drums, they sound absolutely amazing when demonstrated, or in a studio environment, but in a dynamic live situation?
Just my personal opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
Great timing on this one - I'm in the market for something high gain - Options currently are MT15, Kraken V4 preamp, Dark Terror
Two questions for the comments: PRS MT15 is at the top of my list but then I hear it hums horribly, is this a thing and is it a deal breaker? Also, Tiny Terror has been crossed off my list now, but what about the Dark Terror? Still flubby?
Why bring up the spider IV without saying how the spider V mk2 is actually good
ОтветитьThe tiny terror is great
Ответитьshitting on line 6? what is this? 2010? ok boomer...
ОтветитьI‘m not really strictly a metal player, though I do indulge in super heavy doom/sludge tones quite regularly.
I now play a Fender HotRod Deville 4x10, which is known as a great pedal platform.
Godly clean tones, amazing spring reverb and with the right dirt pedals it can also sound absolutely brutal!
This is the most versatile rig I’ve ever had!
So if any of you want heavy tones, while not going with a „metal“ amp, you should consider going a similar route.
Jet City Amplification is the way to go.
ОтветитьI’m still rockin my L6 HD 500 .
ОтветитьIn my University we use the Line 6 Spider IV, and since the first use I prove that sounds like shit.
ОтветитьMissing: VOX Mini Go 10. Built in multi-fx, looper, foot switch, mic-in., can run on a portable battery too. It’s really great for people looking to get into gigging. Also has 3 power modes- full, tenth, and hundredth. I got one used for like $120 and it RIPS.
ОтветитьBä öh
Mehal
Your accent kills me 😂
The spider is a fine bedroom amp with plenty of options. But that's all it is.
The katana is a step up from that with much better fx and tubes. You can get lost in all the adjustments for hours, get frustrated and quit. 😂
I highly recommend the prs mt15! This little thing actually delivers, no regrets.
The old solid state Marshall's are pretty good if you swap the speakers.
ОтветитьThe Marshall MGs are hit or miss, I’ve played ones that sounded like shit and others that sound decent. I have a 100 MG head, made in Korea and it has a killer high gain sound, definitely have to turn it up and a nice cab doesn’t hurt either
ОтветитьI prefer TONEX over the AXE fx because the main rythm sound is not worse even better. and AXe fx of course is great but very very expensive..
ОтветитьWell, this is just one Europeans opinion. Just because you didn't like it, doesn't mean it's bad.
ОтветитьI have a peavey triple xxl and love it!
ОтветитьI had a Marshall DSL40CR for a few years, and I never really liked the overdrive on it. The clean channel actually worked for me, as I had a Boss ME-80 that I put in front of it and got some better tones, but never loved it. I got rid if it, bought the 5150 Iconic Combo and fell in love with it. Now I use the ME-80 in the effects loop and I'm getting some truly great sounds and I couldn't be happier.
ОтветитьYou're wrong about the line 6 and orange.
Ответитьi have a line 6 spider IV 120 watt and i love it, i dont use it for distortion because all of my effects are on my pedalboard but i love the way it makes my pedals like my distortion and flanger sound
ОтветитьWell damn bro we have the same gear 😂 I own a Fractal FM9 Mark 2 Turbo and a 5150 Iconic.. I actually sold my Peavy XXX with 2 x 12 because I hated moving around for band shit..
ОтветитьPretty sure you were using your QC wrong if you are outright saying it's something a metal guitarist should avoid.
ОтветитьOne slight nit pick just because a company stops updating a product doesnt make it a paperweight its still as good as it was for you before. Good point about repairs. Im actually afraid my tubeamps will drop in value because people give up on hauling them to gigs.
Ive been gigging Fractal Audio products for years and to be honest I rarely if ever update it lol. Anyway great video.
Why do all your videos sound like QVC channel?
ОтветитьI play a 50W EVH 5150 iii EL34 through a Harley Benton 212 with V30s and it gets the job done pretty damn well. I also have some Neural DSP plug-ins that I've dialed in pretty well for when I don't feel like micing up my cabs. Between those two things and a plethora of pedals and other cabs /microphones that I've collected over a long time, the setup is pretty sweet nowadays. All that being said, you still haven't talked me out of getting a quad cortex hahahaha.
ОтветитьGreat video
ОтветитьDude every video ive seen from you is just L take after L take
ОтветитьI suspect he bashed the Quad Cortex because he knows it's gonna generate a lot of comments and interaction on his video :)
ОтветитьExcept these recommended models are 10 times more expensive
Ответитьi got the micro terror practice bundle for under $300. the cheapest EVH setup i can find is $1500. on what planet are those the same price category?
Ответить@JamieSlays, Any thougths about the marshall origin series, specifically the origin 50 combo?
ОтветитьI wanna play black and death metal wich one will yall recomend under 700
ОтветитьI don't know man, saying QC is not good for metal while it's widely used by big artists FOR METAL, is kinda challenging completely your authority on this. I have Line6 Helix and it's the best thing since sliced bread for my metal playing. It surpasses any real amp I have tested by A LOT! These digital modellers are so insanely good that they are actually making real amps redundant, at least for me. It has also all the effects I'll ever need. And while last update on my Helix was maybe a year ago, it's not paperweight. It may not last as long as tube amp but they have their own problems too. Also what comes to the price of, say QC, real amps and effect pedals become quickly quite pricey too, so...
ОтветитьThe 1st gen Marshall MG (MGDFX) amps were ass, but I own a MG50-CFX (2nd gen) and an MG50-GFX, and they’re absolutely killer. Good for the money and for beginners. They just get a bad rep because they have to be dialed a certain way. I’ve never had an issue with them 🤷🏻♂️
ОтветитьLine 6 is good lmao but ok
ОтветитьI have a mini boss amp and I can bring it to school every one just loves it I played Metallica on it and it is soooooooo good 100000000/10 5 stars
ОтветитьI bought a Marshall MG50 as a beginner and it really SUCKS. Like you said only pedals work on this. I'm searching for some affordable Amp for a badass Lamb of god like tone that's maybe even good enough for recordings but yeah got not that much money. I can't spend more than 800-900€ so do you have any recommendations??😕
ОтветитьAt this point, I'm convinced you're just trashing things because they're popular to get views....................
ОтветитьNever had that issue with my quad cortex. If anything modern amps are the thing not giving me the tones I want. Quad cortex is totally worth it still IMO
Ответитьhiii, did you ever try peavey trans tube series, like envoy 110 or bandit 112? if yes, what is best for rock/hard rock?
ОтветитьI love my Boss Katana 3 Ex, it sounds really nice für this price. The only downside... its overwhelming and confusing at the beginning, just so many options and there is no Bluetooth build in, u have to buy it extra.
ОтветитьI used to have a 6050+ with a 4x12 cab. I sold those with all my pedals and bought a Mooer GE300. Well, the mooer was crap. Can't recommend it to anyone. But then my friend showed me his Neural DSP plugins and later bought himself a QC and recommended that for me too. I got it and have been happy with it.
Digital stuff comes with digital problems. But those have not been common in these two years. I am happy to have changed the large physical stuff for this tiny unit. Portability is a key feature in music gear and this is definitely nicer to carry around rehearsals and whatnot than a69 kg cubic meter of amp stuff.
Years ago, I had a Spider IV 150 head. It caught on fire when I cranked it to keep up with the loud drums at practice. The practice room smelled bad for weeks.
ОтветитьI agree though. QC is the new popular piece of gear. Give it 5 years and itll be something else. Tube amps > sims
