Great idea to clearing up hazed headlights. Bringing it up to 8000 sandpaper and buffing that polish with a small orbital pad would have cleared it up almost perfectly 👍🏻

Went too thick with my first coat and left them as is. Should I go with 400-600 grit and start over ? Or 2000 grit ?

Also thank you for the great content, I’ve been dreaming of working on my car for a while. So thank you !

how long do i need to allow for the clear coat to dry? I have the same product you use in this video (Rustoleum brand). I have held off for months, but now that it's getting warmer, I am wondering if I'd be fine to spray the clear coat on a warm, dry day, even if it's going to get cold overnight, or rain overnight, or what have you... or do I need to wait until it's between 50-90F° and lower than 65% humidity for a whole 24 hours??

I could probably do this myself on my personal vehicles and then sell my services for like 30 bucks to my neighbors without telling them what I do. Question tho, can I drive with having to wait a day for the stuff to dry? Or do I have make the vehicle stationary the whole time? I can make it work by taking one vehicle then another but I prefer taking just the one. Thanks in advance

I sanded my headlights and now they're really hazy and I'm not sure what to do even after I used wax. I used 2000 grit and cleaned them with alcohol. I haven't used the clear coat yet because I haven't been able to get any, I ordered some and its delayed. Is that what prevents it from fogging up like it does?

Footnote - once done spraying your clear coat, turn the can upside down in an open area and hit the knob until no more material comes out of the tip. This will clear the tip of material and be ready for the next time you use the can - super handy and nice video Mista Fix

So they totally use planned obsolescence. I mean they could just use UV protected and non yellowing.

I tried this today. My headlamps looked near perfect when I was done. All that was left was to use Isopropyl Alcohol and Clear Coat with the UV protectant.
I wiped it down with alcohol. After it dried, I sprayed following the instructions exactly as noted. Seconds we by and I watched as Cracks appeared everywhere. I'm sure plenty of people were successful in doing this, I wasn't... Be warned.
BTW, this was done on a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser with genuine Toyota headlamps.

Did this on my daily, made it look so much newer. And better thanks. Im just wondering about how the headlights have a few deep scratches and the arent as clear, my friend said its due to the inside of thr headlights but im not too sure if its maybe the clear coat not being polished. Do u think polishing the new clear coat would make them even more clear. Or is it probably just from the inside of them

Ответить
@kadalora

not permanent, my understanding is the UV coat will have to be applied every year or two.. but as long as you do that the headlights should remain clear

Hi Chris (or anyone that can help) - I am planning on doing this really soon and bought all the required materials. One thing you didn't use in the video that you put on your description is the Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Polish. Just wondering, is that a substitute for the Carnauba wax or something I have to apply at another/different step? If so, at which step and how should I apply the Meguiar's PlastX Clear Plastic Polish. Thanks to everyone in advance :)

And as always - thanks Chris :') you da best
