I remember seeing David O Russell at the Oscars one year. I saw it on TV. He was in his seat, smiling, looking up at the monitors to see if he was on camera, on TV, being watched by millions.

Tom Hooper went on o direct Cats, one of the worst movies ever made. He was a flavor of the week when this came out.

Quintin is such a movie buff the majority of movie goers don't know the difference in digital vs film, or anything quintin is so passionate about. He is right though it is cool to shoot on film, it has a better look IMO, but it matters very little to not at all to 95 percent of the people.

Decorating a set with light sabers will always be the right choice.

Quintin is a smart guy, and has more movie knowledge in his head then likely almost anyone. He is one of very vew directors that makes extremely unique well written and well directed practical movies with old school filming methods, and equipment. With all that being said it's absolutely dumb to limit himself saying "I will only make 10 movies" his reasoning for it is he's afraid of getting old and being out of touch with audiences. But to put a number on it and limit yourself is just ridiculously dumb, and he's had that thought for a long time, and it's just an incorrect thought in his head that hopefully he will change. He should be making as many movies without losing the quality as he can, because each one is a gift to audiences and no one can make a Tarantino movie except him. So if he stops making movies because of a self imposed ridiculous rule he made himself, it will be a sad day. We will end up missing out on a lot of great movies that could have been made. It would be much like Eddie Murphy stopping acting, except in kids movies, and much like Josh Hartnett stepping away from acting. We missed a whole decade or in Eddie's case 20 or 30 years of movies that could have been made, but with Quinton it would be even worse as his movies just won't get made, at least with the two actors I mentioned the movies likely still got made, it just didn't star them.

I think what’s lost today is the idea that you as a director are also an entertainer. Directors aren’t thought of as entertainers, but they are.
They facilitate the entertainment. They bring it to life.
