I don't particularly care for the 300 movies, but they're very clearly not intended to be documentaries. They're blatantly not going for accuracy/realism, they're fantastical flicks with only the tiniest kernel of historicity.

Professor Roel Van Dijk again, now i begin my war with his blessings.

Hollywood should apologize to Persians for producing such a disrespectful and offensive film.

If a movie like 300 had been made portraying Japanese culture in a similarly distorted and offensive way, the entire Western world would likely be outraged. But when it comes to Persians, it's somehow acceptable , even entertaining to misrepresent and vilify them. It's frustrating, especially considering that Persians have historically done nothing to deserve this treatment from the West.

In fact, Persia played a vital role in preserving human knowledge. They safeguarded Greek philosophy when religious zealots wanted to destroy it. Scholars like Ibn Sina laid the foundations for modern medicine , his books helped Europe combat the plague and spark the Renaissance. Despite this, Persia has repeatedly been invaded, attacked, and demonized by Western powers.

I'm grateful for the historians who still fight to tell the truth, even if few in the West are willing to listen

Wood floats. Just keep that in mind when watching this. It is actually difficult to cause a wooden ship to sink.

300 is a Comic not History

Movies like this spread the type of „history knowledge“ that you go battling in the comment section over and over again. For the same depressing results

I watched these movies with a mindset similar to when watching a Conan movie or the Lord of the Rings. Complete fantasy. The difference being that the 300 movies were set in a fictionalized fantasy version of the ancient world.

300 story is more like a story an angry edgy teen would make up to take revenge on his classmate. Overall, just a joke and super biased and inaccurate.

Worst thing about naval warfare is that you can't dig ditches.

I believe the movie is referencing Ramses II victory over the sea peoples with the battle in the strait, which is still rather strange and a bit ridiculous, but I believe it is an homage in a sense.
