This song comes from the Bible, Isaiah chapter 9 verses 6-7. Every time I read that passage of scripture, I think of this song! Such a beautiful masterpiece! ❤😊

Greatest music ever

This work by Handel is truly amazing since he composed the entire "Messiah" oratorio in 24 days from August 22 to September 14, 1741. It was later rescored by Mozart for full orchestra and later in 1912 by Max Spicker. Sadly, many choirs in the USA have problems singing the word "Lord" as they "Twang" it as "LoRd" (which I found rather disconcerting )--the word should always be sung "Laud". In my 50 years of experience I've had the rare privilege of singing bass as a teen, then as pianist, organist and later as conductor of is commonly known as the Christmas section which usually ends with the "Hallelujah Chorus" from Part 2. The London Symphony and Tenebrae choir does an exceptional performance-a few different appoggiaturas were present which were different from the Schirmer edition . Even after nearly 300 years, this work is truly like no other in praise to our Saviour.

Absolutely Beautiful Music Handel Was Spiritually Inspired by God When He Composed the Messiah and It Is Eternal! 🎄🎇🎄

It’s true that you can enjoy and appreciate this masterpiece and not be a Christian or even believe in God. As a singer and musician who understands the intricacies, beautiful melodies, great demand and so many other things this piece has, I definitely fit that category. But you will never experience and actually live this piece with great joy and thanksgiving unless you are one of His. I fit that category too, and I’m telling you that it’s another level, and that’s a major understatement.

As someone who sung this work for twenty years including Carnegie, i cannot stress how this is perfection.

I know the Hallelujah chorus gets all the attention, but this one is my favorite movement from the Messiah.

These words are TRUE! He, Jesus, is our only salvation.
