Wondering about your microclimate. What city in San Diego are you? And if u were to buy more blueberries, what variety would you buy?

Thanks for sharing Greg! Hard to find info on growing blueberries in milder climates. I am also finding growing blueberries in Cal is very different from growing blueberries elsewhere.

Looks like I'll be taking mine out of their large pots and putting them in the ground!

You mentioned lowering the Ph of the soil. Do you have an ideal Ph level that you are trying to reach? I am also growing Sunshine and jubilee, albeit in pots. Thanks for posting as this is great info.

Thank you for sharing Greg. I never knew how much work it takes to grow blueberries in southern California. I live in New England area so it's different. I love your garden. Sending you full support. 👍🎁🤝. Stay in touch ❤️

Love the airplane sounds. Sound like P-51’s. I have killed my first attempts at growing blueberries. My mom had a big bush in a big pot and I got it and it died quickly. Put it in mostly shade some morning sun. Can’t tell how much water to give. Do I just give those sulfur pellets once a year or throughout the year? I’m going to try full sun this year. I’m in trabuco canyon.

I have some of the same varieties as you and pruned for the first time last year after seven years. I took out one old cane on each plant and saw a lot of new growth this year. They look vibrant and healthy and even young again. Hoping for a bumper crop this summer.

Do blueberries actually need chill hours, and if so how many do you get there?

Don’t critters eat your berries before you get them?

Did you amend your soil when planting to lower the pH? I am in Riverside, ca ph level is 7 and need advice on what to do to get it low enough. Thinking of backfilling planting area with acidic soil snd then maintenance with sulfur pellets.
