Waffly obfuscation - the usual stuff from these self-appointed "thinkers for our times". Harris, Peterson et al are simply fighting over audiences... clicks, book deals, appearance fees etc. Full stop. The rest is deceptively banal bullshit... and copious amounts of it. Will this grifter punditry culture ever end? Nope. It's the new reality. Isaiah Berlin and Bertrand Russell are spinning cartwheels in their graves.

Sam is being very gracious and charitable here ... and with his relationship with JP in general. You can see in every meeting with Sam, JP struggles. Those of you JP Lobstermen have been conned by an empty vessel who is good at word salads ... and that's it.

There’s nothing wrong with believing anything you want to believe. So there’s nothing wrong with believing in religion. However, when you have to convince others of what you belief, then that’s where the trouble starts. Then we have wars. Then we have battles. Then suddenly everyone must prove to the world which religion is the only true religion. Which brings us to this moment. Because now we have a Supreme Court who takes it’s authority from the christian right. And not from the will of the people. All because religion has become a means to power. And not a personal testimony to one’s life. Is this what religion is all about?

However many people Peterson supposedly "helped", he missed the boat in helping them more. Not once have I heard him define the cause of mental disturbance. Peterson knows nothing of mental health. Check out Albert Ellis. He's the guy who can really help people.

It's an interesting phenomena. We live in an era of professional internet bullshitters. Harris, Dawkins, "Dr." Phil, Petersen, Sadhguru, Graham Hancock, Deepak Chopra and all these other blabbers , etc. are all in show business. They are entertainers. Sam even referred to their "fans." All their blabbing is mere chewing gum for the mind. They're in a branch of the larger entertainment industry. I think of all these people as internet know-it-alls. They are intellectual entertainers in the sense that professional athletes are physical entertainers.

I don't agree with Andrew Sullivan on religion or some of his politics but know he'd be great to have a yarn with over a beer. Jordan on the other hand would be too busy trying out his latest semantic acrobatics to position himself as "intellectually superior" to be tolerated for any length of time. Sam always comes across as grounded, well-reasoned and open to others' views- he's my north star for sanity.

Stop for a moment to think about it, Sam is talking about Peterson almost like an old friend, while still directly acknowledging that hes fallen into very stupid claims like the anti vaxx stuff.

Anyone from the right would not even bring up those topics, and anyone from the left would bring those topics up and say that they make Peterson too problematic and too far gone to talk to. But here Harris is talking like we all would talk about a real life friend or family member ''yeah i love that guy, i hope he grows out of some pretty crazy views hes gotten from the circles he runs in'', no glazing, no ''i condemn X Y or Z'' no PR statement, just a genuine take from one human to another. God i hope this sentiment becomes the norm.

I think Jordan chooses to believe in only what he wants to believe. Which appears to be an ideology based on religion. In other words, there can be no other way of looking at things other than from a religious context. Perhaps defined by the bible. And that’s fine. You can believe whatever you want. But if you go into a debate, don’t expect an agreement with other people whose don’t look at the things the way you do. Just agree to disagree.

Sam, I think you got the reaction you were most hoping for if we're being honest. I've been watching 👀 some of you're conversation with different people. I find them mildly interesting, to be honest. I'm glad you're weren't talking on a tall building. Some may have taken the leap. So, keeping the calm, steady tone by itself will create some instability in your opponents. I know a brilliant lawyer who uses that same method very effectively . Peace ✌️ 😎. Great video.

But Sam, you're politically living in an echochamber just as much. You were wrong about the laptop and your political side is consistently wrong and far more extremist than Jordan's side.

In forever grateful for Jordan Peterson, but I don't like his stance on many of the more popular issues in politics and transgender appreciation. But Jordan is a Christian and I can't shame him for his beliefs whether I agree or not. He's respectful every time I see him.

The question for this guy:

What is the ontological source or support for the existence of that unconditional love as a phenomenon in existence?

He would probably tell us the story of materialist evolution ( evolution and then unconditional love )

Religion would say

God and therefore unconditional love

The God story, coherently supports unconditional love

Jesus lived loving compasión and tolerance, there has not been a man in the history of western society with such character as Jesus Christ. He attributed such an attitude to whom he call his father ( God )

That should point towards his existence or atleast to the greater value of religious accounts

What I hate about Peterson is that he is a dishonest interlocutor. He dodges questions dishonestly. There is no value to squeezed by Sam continuing to engage Peterson. Alex O'Connor managed to peal a thin layer of his dishonest tactics of answering questions in bizarre way like whenhe was asked if the exodus happened and he said it's still happening, while hebknows exactly a person is asking if that literally happened.

The real problem between them is simply that Sam exists purely within the realm of logic while Jordan, although usually extremely logical, is willing to suspend logic in his existential thoughts in order to create a stronger sense of purpose in life. It’s extremely complicated.
